I have a generic question for folks here -- mainly for the consumers of the games as opposed to the developers. What was going through your mind when you pulled out the credit card to buy an indie/casual game?
For me, here's the top 5 things that I was thinking when I decided to actually register a game:
1) My son (and daughter) have really liked the demo and want to play beyond the shareware level (or the 60 mins have run out). They've been pestering me for days to buy it and I cave.
2) (Adventure Quest) I enjoy playing the free game but I see that if I was a Guardian I'd be able to kill monsters faster and I felt good about supporting the folks creating the game
3) (Fate) It was galling to think that I could only get to level 5 or something and be stalled out -- the game was so fun even with a few levels that I knew it was worth buying.
4) My wife plays Bejeweled all the time so I went and bought the boxed version for her laptop as a present.
5) I was having such fun playing a game with my son (two player game) that I bought it to finish the game out.
