I see a few others here are on the House of Rugs link page, so I guess you've been getting the link exchange emails too? After getting three of them, I just had to write back and ask the enigmatic R what the deal is with this videogame/rug crossover. Am I missing something here? They're selling rugs, right?

I get TONS of link exchange spam lately. I immediately delete it all. Getting a link from sites like this is completely worthless.

No offence Mike but i don't agree with that.
First of all, i don't think link exchange requests are spam (unless it's from casino or porn related sites afcorse ;) )
I think you should reply to these mails (if the other site is game related) explaining why you are not interested.
Not answering mails is in my eyes a kind of arrogance.
It's what those big publishers (etc.) do when you send them a mail.
I'm not attacking you or something but i just say it's not correct!

I think mike is meaning that he gets lots of spammy link exchange requests from non related sites, or sites that spam links, and deletes those. I don't think he deletes genuine requests from other developer sites/portals.

Well the thing that interested me was that this rug site's link page is all indie game developers, for some reason.

Likewise. To all three sentences.

I disagree. If you approach me with no invitation to do so, you cannot expect a reply. I try to answer all emails because I was brought up to have good manners, but I won't take time out of a very busy week to answer emails which I didn't ask for and are completely devoid of any relevance. ( Not just these link requests, anything which is completely unsolicited and irrelevant. )
Not answering an email when you were the one that initially approached somene else is a completely different matter of course. It's just plain ignorant to make an unsolicited approach and then ignore the email(s) you get in return. But I get a little bit of that too.
