Hi all,

I thought I'd keep my first post short :)

What are your top three (personal favourite) casual games?

I guess mine would be:

Platypus
Heavy Weapon
Jewel Quest

Top what, exactly? Top selling? Top favorite? I guess it's top favorite, so I since that may need a little bit of thinking from my part, I'll say the ones I've played the most:

1 - Zuma (by far)
2 - AstroPop
3 - Chuzzle

I've spent also some hours with Luxor, since I played it before Zuma. It just became too hard for me around the middle of the progress map, and then I played Zuma and haven't looked back. I've also tried other Zuma-like games like Tumblebugs, Atlantis or Beetle Bomp but I get bored of those within minutes of playing. Zuma has just the perfect timing, if that's how it must be called, but I find it far funnier than any other game in that (sub)genre.

Half-Life 2
Doom 3

Since when are those games casual?

Now that depends on your perspective.

Half-Life 2
Doom 3
Farcry

Those are casual when compared to:

War in the Pacific (each game in WITP lasts about 1.5 years real time of play)

Bridge Construction Set

Microsoft Flight Simulator with all controls set to manual.

See?... maybe he's a 14 year old civil engineer :)

Ok so probably he just misread the question.

My list:

Lemonaide Tycoon
Jets n Guns
Bookworm

Why did you say "casual" rather than indie, out of curiosity?

I don't play casual games. :)

3) Puzzle Word / Word Up (well my mates and I play this a hell of a lot on quiz machines in bars)

1. Chuzzle
2. Cosmobots
3. Triptych

Luxor
ClashNSlash
Xeno Assault 2

A lot of games come across my desk, very few ever compell me to have to spend my non-existant extra time to beat it.

Tip: if this is for marketing research, really bad slice of users to do it with

Just for you then: What are your top three indie games? :)

I prefer to play old console games, and only really play downloadables to keep up with what you all are doing.

But these are ones that I've enjoyed recently:

DROD Journey to the Rooted Hold
The Magic Blackboard, yeah you better believe it
And I'm still a big fan of Zen Puzzle Garden

These aren't the sorts of games I generally play, either. But if I want a shooter or a platformer or a racing car game (and I usually do), old console-land is a much greener pasture than indie-land.

And, oh, there are other indie games I liked, a fair few others. But I have forgotten them all for now.

Hoo... lotta Chuzzlers on here. I can't help but feel that's an unfair elevation due to proximity, tho... should see if the game ages well, first.

My top 3:

1. Zuma (no question!)
2. Bookworm (tho graphics are pretty dated now)
3. Cosmic Bugs

That's within my definition of casual, tho. Basically it boils down to staying power on my desktop. For example, the all-time winner in that regard is Diablo2... but it's not casual.

Well, I usually spend more time developing than playing.

But when I do play it's usually Cosmic Bugs, Alien Shooter or Luxor.

More favorites....
Best Platform: Turtle Odyssey - Love the gfx! Also, Realore has been improving this title constantly since the initial launch
Impressed me most (technically and gfx): Wik
Best Match-3: Jewel Quest - Love the Indiana Jones style theme
Best Music: The Ricochet series, Snowy Space Trip and ShapeShifter

One of few games that I've actually managed to complete is Bettys Beer Bar.
Also had fun playing Invadazoid, Varmintz, Gold Miner (GameRival) and Lexaloffle's Neko and Zen.
