Retro Quiz interface feedback wanted!

Hello all.

We are in the process of finishing up our first game Retro Quiz at the moment and would really like some feedback on the game's interface.
Personally I think it's missing something, I just don't know what...
We are really interested in hearing what you people think about it.

Please tell us what you think about it and how it could be approved.

This looks ok except for the background. That miserable dark grey looks really out of place to me. How about some more pizazz when you get the right answer..? Looks fun though - I knew the answer to that one :)
