QuaQua is a beautiful new memory puzzle game which Glimmer Games are publishing. This is the first game exclusively published through Glimmer Games but developed by another developer.

Here are a couple of screenshots :

I may not be able to answer all technical questions, but I will try my best and pass anything else on to the developer. All feedback is much appreciated, particularly with regards to the difficulty levels, and the price point ($19.99 USD.) It's very hard to judge these things with your own game, let alone someone else's game.

Please forgive me... Will you be releasing a Mac version?

No, we felt it wouldn't be fair to take the Mac version, since we really don't get any Mac visitors at the moment and don't really have the knowledge required to promote it well for Mac. The author has our permission to offer the Mac version elsewhere, which I believe he is doing. If he doesn't find anyone he is happy to offer the Mac version to, we may be able to take the Mac version at a later date, when we have Mac versions of TriviaNet Challenge and a couple of other games.

Lots of nice effects, unfortunately none of them work on my older machines? Is this OpenGL with Shaders and stuff? looks like a bit of bumpmapping and Cubemapping in there.

Nope, nothing like that. The most advanced feature it uses is a reflection map and multitexturing.

I believe it uses DirectX7 by default on Windows, and OpenGL only if chosen by the user or is DirectX7 is not available. I'm not an expert on hardware requirements, but this seems to be the generally accepted best compromise on Windows boxes.

EDIT: Geesh, someone's keen. We just sold our first copy and I haven't officially launched it yet. I thought it was a good game, but perhaps I still underestimated it.

Few things:

1) The fonts used looks out of place. The game is very sleek looking but the fonts look like graffiti from the side of a barn.

2) Very cryptic help screen. I read it and still did not know what to do. As I played the game, I realized that the goal was not only to keep track of position but possible appearance or rotation, etc.

3) Some way to quit without losing progress would be nice.

4) Some sense of how many levels there are to play would be nice.

5) The icon used for the exe file is the default Macromedia Director icon, that really needs to be changed.

IMHO, I think the basic premise is neat (i.e. pattern memorization, matching) but the presentation needs a lot of work.

Very pretty game.

The gameplay isn't my usual cup of tea but the graphics, animations and music kept me hypnotized enough to play for a good 30 minutes (and I have a very short attention span :D ). Nicely done.

The most advanced feature it uses is a reflection map and multitexturing.

I believe it uses DirectX7 by default on Windows, and OpenGL only if chosen by the user or is DirectX7 is not available.

That sounds like Director to me. Is that what you used to make it?

Thanks for the great feedback, guys. I'll pass everything on to the author and suggest that some changes would make the game more saleable.

He did make it in Director, yes.
