Has anyone here ever hired a photographer or bought photos from them? I need some photos for my puzzle game.

Anyone?

I just went through this process myself a few months ago for backgrounds for my screensavers / living desktops. Here are my notes / links:

Stock Photography:

General Info on the best Free Stock Photos

Morgue File - free

Stock Exchange - free - contact individual authors

Shutterstock - $139 a month for 25 photos a day - 750 photos a month

Personally, I use Stock Exchange, Morgue File and I will probably use Shutterstock for a month after things really pick up to get some good quality images.

Any particular theme(s) you want? And what image dimensions/aspect ratios are you needing? I might be interested in tackling some photograph ideas on spec.

We've used istockphoto.com previously, images starting from $1 (depending on resolution), of course I am a keen photographer anyway so do my own work where possible.
