Let me do first a brief introduction about myself:
I'm an indie game developer myself, although now I'm working as Game Designer in a big studio.. yet my spirit remains intact :). The last 3 years I worked on a title that now will happily get published all over Europe . But during those years, I've been thinking a lot about what games are, and what games should be..

All that thinking took form into GamesAreArt.com (http://www.gamesareart.com).

I believe that this its a site specially for developers like us that are trying to make something different.

Here (http://www.gamesareart.com/index.php?sec=event_detail&eventoid=60) you'll find 3 interesting articles on the current state of the industry and what can be done to change it.

It's not "my site", because I want it to be "our site" so we can discuss from a more cultural point of view, how the gaming scene of the future should be. So anyone is invited to participate and take action in our forums to debate what can be done to change our industry for the benefit of independent games.

Cheers

Santi

Neat looking site! But the high-contrast background is blinding, and probably going to keep me away. Any chance of lowering that contrast a bit? (A lot?!)

For the longest time I assumed the site was in a perpetual slashdotting, but it turns out that I just can't access it from work for some reason. When I am at home, I can get to it...sometimes. Anyone else have issues getting to this site when it was announced weeks ago on gamedev.net?

Well done! But get rid of phpbb! It'll get hacked, and then you'll be sad.

An arty site I work on pretendpaper.com is going to start doing reviews and articles of and about arty games soon (first review coming up is of Façade (http://www.interactivestory.com/) )

Well done again on your site! Added to my list of sites to waste time on in the morning whilst drinking coffee.

I still get some slow pages or some that refuse to load on first attempt.

and if you don't, make sure you subscribe to the phpbb updates list (http://www.phpbb.com/support/) and when a new update comes out, implement it immediately or take the board offline until you can.

It's also worth taking regular sql dumps of your board - we set it up to do that automatically every day.

I'm pretty much of the opinion that all server software needs to be kept up to date and phpbb is no worse than any other bit of software, just higher profile. Many people have had issues with it though (when it hasn't been kept up to date).
