Hi,
We've been offered an nice exclusive publishing deal for the german version of Tribal Trouble by CDV Software Entertainment (yay!).
Since we're so green in all this publishing bonanza, and since we don't know them (how could we, TT being our first game?), I'd like to know if any of you would recommend them.
Thanks a lot,
- elias

I havent dealt with them but CDV are pretty big aren't they? They are the people who had a huge hit with Cossacks.

They seem quite big, that's right. But I'm not sure if that's good or bad. To make matters worse, we also got an offer from halycon.de for the german version, who are recommended by Chronic Logic and seem very honest and fair. Problem is, their offer is lower than CDVs, so I'm at a loss at what to do exactly.

Well since I work for a publisher of fair size, I tend to keep tabs on CDV (and others). Here's the most recent rumblings from CDV.
First, CDV is a fairly large company. No EA, but bigger than Matrix Games that is certain. They still focus extremely heavily in traditional retail channels and traditional marketing.
The only known blemish I know of with CDV is that they are currently going through a marketing crisis. In the past few months they have fired two marketing companies. The reasons behind them were half professional and half personal, but the long story short was they fired their company to pick up a better one that had an ace that was going to help. The ace left that company on bad terms and told CDV why. CDV dropped them like a bad habit. Now they are in a bit of a bind.
Other than that, I can't say I reccomend them but I can say that I don't know anything else bad about them :)

I hear Bluefish Media has some exposure in Germany. I met some of them at the Casual Games Conference. Haven't had any experience dealing with them though.
