Advertising Jargon.

Hi,

I'm currently looking into internet advertising via banners and i needed some help with the jargon that's constantly spouted.

I'm a little confused by the phrase where they say $0.60 for 1000 impressions.

What is an impression? Is this where you're banner will be displayed 1000 time for 60 cents? Or is it 60 cents for everytime your banner is clicked 1000 times.

I realise this might sound a bit simplistic but i'm damned if i can find an explaination of it on the net.

I'm a complete beginner when it comes to marketing, so any advice would be appreciated.

I also did a search in these forums about GamesBanner.net. Do people here think it's worth the expense?

Impression is how many times ad is showed - Click is clicked - CTR is Click Trru Rate (Click/Impress) in % - CPC means Cost Per Click. I don't know any other jargon. I hope it helps.

Gamesbanner.net is not worth the money.
Advertise on Gamextazy.com instead.

You'll have a better ROI (return on investment) there ;-)

[Edit] Some terms:
CPC: Cost-per-Click
CPM: Cost per 1000 impressions of your banner/skyscraper
CPA: Cost-per-action/lead= amount you pay per signup, download, requested brochure (etc.) on your website

I think the fact that advertising jargon is not well understood and completely obfuscated tells you pretty much everything you need to know about the expertise of marketing in business available today.

Maybe some don't understand tech they are marketing to well so they must create their own little secrets so tech people won't understand them either.
