Myself and my team have been working very hard over the last year to complete our third release of "Deadly Rooms of Death". We have many fans of the game that want to help us test, but for our first round of testing we are looking for a very specific type of person:
1. This person should like logic puzzle games. I don't mean casual puzzle games like Tetris, Bejeweled, or Collapse. I mean games where you must think pretty hard to find a certain solution. Games that are somewhat similar to DROD in this aspect: Dweep, Fitznik, Hero's Quest. Feedback from someone who greatly prefers other types of games is not very useful. Our game is for people who love to sit down and patiently think things out.
2. This person has never played any version of DROD before. We will be testing with DROD veterans later, but for now we want to really understand the reactions of new players to this unique game.
3. This person is willing to document initial reactions to the game and talk to the team about it. We want to know things like: where did you get confused, which parts of the game seemed too hard or too easy, did you feel compelled to continue after our last demo level? We will have a survey with maybe a dozen or so questions like this and some e-mail discussion with you.
The deal is that if you sign our NDA, play through our demo (estimated time is about an hour), complete the survey, and generally try to be useful, we'll give you a free copy of the full game when it is released. This test is scheduled to start September 8th.
If anyone is interested, e-mail me at erikh@caravelgames.net. You can learn about our first two releases of DROD at www.drod.net to get an idea about the game and user community, but if you wish to participate in this test, please don't play DROD. And anybody who has already played DROD and wants to beta-test, please don't try to sneak into this test--it will only hurt us because your feedback will be biased. There will be some more beta-testing later and we may be able to work together for that.
