Install logs of Ultratron 1.0:

http://www.puppygames.net/ultratron_10_failure_rate.html

Failure rate on OSX has shot up alarmingly. XP dominates Windows flavours. Failure rate is creeping up on XP as well. Possibly because all these people upgrading from 98/2k get XP without any drivers. Anyway - it's food for thought. Still wish someone else would collect this information, it's solid gold.

<edit>Query updated! This conclusion is incorrect! See http://72.21.48.140/forums/showthread.php?p=51364#post51364

OSX Tiger has changes which breaks some apps. Not sure what the changes are, but do a bit of research on tiger. Blitzmax requires an update for tiger as well, so it might be affecting you.

I think OSX will run on non-3D cards as well (could be mistaken).

The only changes which should seriously be affecting me are OpenGL drivers. I did make a move to 1024x1024 textures recently which may have broken on some Macs. I've just tried cutting it to 512x512 to see if that fares any better.

Absolutely excellent work, Cas. Unfortunately, however, you've just convinced me to keep away from an OpenGL-only rendering pipeline. Any thoughts what's causing these massive failure rates?

Windows is par for the course, not too concerned about that.
The only thing I can think of that might be a problem on OSX is that I was using 1024x1024 textures which might overwhelm some of the crappier cards that Macs can have. I've just uploaded the new version which uses 512x512 textures to see if that helps. I'm really a bit lazy because I should just check that the card supports textures that big and show a message if it doesn't.

ati rage cards on G3's are what you need to support - they are in nearly every mac sold that can still run osx reasonably well - ie the g3's.

They are piss poor at everything, really. Would shock me if they did manage 1024 textures.

Add to the fact that using > 512 textures is a lot slower for some cards, for example the Geforce2 GTS (Geforce4mx is similar) will chug quite badly even if has quite a bit of memory.

1024 Textures is strictly a hardcore pc requirement IMO.

I just realised my query was completely wrong. I'm actually looking at... yes, a 2.5% failure rate on Windows XP. Yes, you read right. And 7.1% on MacOS X.

This completely blows everything out of the water again.
