Another big guy joining in. Slightly old news. Another portal for casual game developers possibly, unless Codies do it all first party.

I should point out I have worked at Codemasters In QA roles and in Juice Studio (race driver series) and it is ironic that I was talking about this "casual games" audience and possible plans for my own future before I left the company - and now it seems they already had their own (Bigger) plans.

Anyway, just a heads up for possible future portal distribution (or casual games competition :( )

"Codemasters has a very serious interest in online gaming and one that covers a broad scope, with titles and initiatives that will target the core and casual online gamer."

No mention of them targeting the downloadable market, maybe they are going to use pay per play models for the MMO that they mention.

It seems a bit strange that they are targetting 2 different markets, maybe they will have 2 different websites or something? As most people here know the core and the casual markets are totally different (and niches within each), so if Codies are not differentiating and targeting them seperately then the plan is critically flawed. Just my opinion of course, but it will be interesting to see how this pans out.

The fact that they identified two distinctly different markets makes me think they're not gonna muck it up right away.

On a slightly different note, wasn't there some talk in an older thread about someone doing a cricket game? http://www.codemasters.com/brianlara/
