I was wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to get the latest version of your game uploaded and listed on Download.com?

They've just listed my game today and it is version 2.06 and now my game is up to version 2.08. I went to the "Modify Product Listing" page and changed it to version 2.08 and in the "Upload Manager" it is listed as a newly submitted product. Then they sent me an email saying it will take 15 days to process it. What's the deal? I thought their server is supposed to upload the latest version as soon as you give it the new information.

Are you talking about the free or the paid option? 15 days is what you get for free, I'm sure you can pay several hundred dollars to make it faster :)

I recently updated my free listing in download.com and got the same 15 day notice. Seems they still want to hold on to some kind of user-access fees for developers.

However, I was pleased to find out that my update was pushed live much faster then 15 days. I was submitting a major new version though (version 5.0), so that may have had something to do with it. I don't know though.

Hmm... I submitted our The Black Knight atleast 3 weeks back as a free listing and nothing so far.

I submitted my game Starcars 2 weeks ago as a free new listing and haven't heard anything yet. Maybe they got inundated with free submissions?

Its a pain in the neck (this 15 day thing). My demo is only the first part of my game. When a customer buys my game they get to download the rest of it. If the files are different versions they won't work together and the customer will have to download the demo and possibly start the game again. If Download.com didn't insist on hosting my demo file, it wouldn't be a problem. I certainly don't want to pay them $949 per year so I can update to the latest version of my file within one business day. Not unless they bring in some decent sales which I doubt they will.

I tried to update my game using free listing, it said it will post on 5/23/2005, and today is the 24th :).

I guess that's why it's free listing.

Yup, it got listed, guess they're just a little busy and others should get listed too.
