Phoenix, AZ Meetup!

I know we have at least 3 or 4 Phoenix indies on this board and I'd like to setup a monthly or bi-monthly meeting.

What nights and times are good for you?
And what location would be good? (Phoenix, Glendale, Peoria, Mesa, Tempe, Gilbert, etc.)

I'm pretty much open to any night except Sundays. I live in Phoenix, just off of I-17 and Greenway. I'd prefer it be close to home but would be willing to Tempe for a meetup.

We could switch the location every month or so. Who's with me?

There's an active IGDA chapter in Phoenix. We generally meet on the third Friday of each month, alternating between the Art Institute of Phoenix and the University of Advancing Technology (Tempe) for locations. AIPX is roughly at I-17 and Dunlap; UAT is roughly at I-10 and Baseline.

The meeting report from the July meeting isn't posted yet, but previous meetings' reports are at http://www.igda-phx.org/resources.php , if you'd like to get an idea of the topics and format. The next meeting will be at AIPX sometirme during the week of August 16-20th; we're going to meet during the week rather than Friday, if the room scheduling permits.

Chapter makeup is about half-and-half students and professionals (some in the industry, some in other industries with game development aspirations).

I've been to a few of the early IGDA meetings. Pretty cool.

I think I'm looking for something a little less formal. Just a small group of people getting together for pizza and discussing ideas or whatever. Just a way to keep in touch and make friendships.

The formal stuff is already handled nicely by the IGDA. Thanks though, now that my work schedule is MUCH more free I'll have to go to another IGDA meeting.

Ah--we used to do very regular IGDA-organized informals. Usually a meeting at a pizza place, some people would bring laptops to show off work on their personal projects, etc. Lately, though, we haven't organized much like that. I think there's still an interest among the regular IGDA members, it's just the organizers of the past events have been too busy lately to do much (there was this BBQ recently, though: http://www.igda-phx.org/calendar.php?id=23 ). If you throw together something informal let me know...I'll add it to our IGDA calendar on the page.
