I've noticed a lot of people sell games for more than one platform (Win & Mac being the most popular). But I think that they sell the same game for different platforms as different independent products. I mean, someone who wants to play both in Windows and Mac OS X has to buy the game twice, right?

I don't know if games that need a game to be unlocked share the same key logic (I guess so) between the PC and the Mac version, so the same key would work for both versions, right? That's cool, but what about games that require a second download in order to get the full version?

I use a separate download and although I don't have a way for my customers to get the second version (the one they haven't bought) for free, I know I'd be glad to give it to someone who has already bought the game.

I think this would happen so rarely that you could just handle it on a case-by-case basis.

In the case of my ports to the Mac, players who want versions for both PC and Mac are quite rare. I have handled it on a case-by-case basis, but in most cases (not all) we have agreed to give the player both versions for one purchase. It happens infrequently enough that it's not a big blow to revenue, and a happy customer is more likely to be a repeat customer. :D

Yeah same here, happens so rarely that if customers asks they'll get it.

I added a note on the order page for people to e-mail me for the other version if they want it. It may cause me a few extra hassles, but if there is someone sitting on the fence for an order I figure this might help. The CD I send out has both Windows and Linux versions on it. Some people seem almost offended if they can't get both versions for one price.
