For any of y'all that are in or near Waltham, MA and would be interested in a meet-up of sorts, I just received info on an "Indie Game Development Panel", which is to take place at a monthly meeting of Boston-area game developers. According to information at http://www.bostonpostmortem.org/ , the meeting's time and date looks to be:
Tuesday, April 12 at 7:00 PM
The Skellig Pub and Restaurant
240 Moody Street
Waltham, MA
Directions are available at: http://www.bostonpostmortem.org/SkelligDirections.htm
Here is the information I received in regards to this meeting:
The only things that are certain are death and taxes, and you can get around the death one as long as you collect 99 gold coins. Which is where the taxes part comes in.
So take a break from your paperwork -- you've got 3 more days -- and drown your sorrows with us at Post Mortem next Tuesday! There'll be plenty of GDC news to talk about, and getting ready for E3, and we're even going to try something new for a speaker this month. We're going to have a panel discussion.
Michael Gesner of Dragonfly Game Design, Ed Gardner of Max Gaming Technologies, and Ichiro Lambe of Dejobaan Games will talk (argue?) about indie game development. Is it possible? Can you have your dream and eat it too? Come find out, as three Boston-area indies (and PM regulars) will open their kimonos (um, well, maybe not THAT far, guys) and tell us what it's really like in the trenches, or wherever it is that these indies hang out. As a sometime indie myself, I'll be moderating. I'll bring the chair...anybody got a whip I can borrow?
Be there or be...uninformed. Or uniformed. As if an indie would *ever* wear a uniform. *sniff*
Remember: this is the game industry. We're broke and cheap. So you're expected to pay for your own food and drinks. Before you leave, add 23% for tax and tip to your bill and pay one of the illustrious members of the advisory committee:
The list of advisory board members which followed was garbled, however the list can be found at the following URL: http://www.bostonpostmortem.org/background.htm
