Who's the dork with the red hair hangin out with all those other cool dudes?
Couple pics were after the Shockwave party where they had free drinks and before the Real/Gamehouse party where they had, you guessed it, more free drinks. A quote from Daniel with Sandlot Games said... "GDC is one giant hangover".
As always was great to meet and chat with everyone! Funny how you have a mental image of certain guys from phone/email and how it is once really meet up. Everybody was actually really cool, perhaps expected a few stuffy types but it really didn't happen.

The realarcade party was upstairs at the same place as the meetup. But it's hard to turn down free drinks and stuff. We got a lot more pics, so i figure we will post them here... btw, i am 33, not so young anymore :(

Yeah, it's US. Last time we were meeting up with a lot of people in Seattle (this February), we literally thought they were kids to grown-ups. But later we found out they were 25-30+... It's quite interesting to see how people of different age look differently all over the world :)

See guys! - Don't try to fool old Andy ;)

It's kind of funny you know... i keep hearing this mantra about the soccer moms being the target audience for downloadable games and so on... and as I look at the display area for igf finalists pic I can't help but notice that there are pretty much no women at all. I realize it's not always the case, but even so there's something a little odd about the idea of all these 25-35 year old guys programming games for 30-40 yr old women.

Always been the case. Never many females in game development so I wouldn't expect to find many at a developers conference.
... I realize it's not always the case, but even so there's something a little odd about the idea of all these 25-35 year old guys programming games for 30-40 yr old women.Yes, while a team of 20-30 year old guys making games for 6-10 year old girls makes total sense.
Pappy, and the few other ladies that I'm sure *must* be there... watching... observing... waiting for the moment to strike... I can't imagine what the appeal is. To me, as a guy (last I checked), I'm confident that I'm clinically insane, and see game programming as the mental equivalent of extreme sports. As I sword-fight my way through linear algebra, catch a wave with my compiler, grind the rails of artificial intelligence, climb the rocky surface of game art and jump through the flaming hoops of game design ... this has to be the worst analogy ever.

Mike, you stand accused of shirt crimes. The case for the prosecution:

A charge has been laid against all visible extrusions of the shirt.

Hmm.. How many women (non-actresses) are listed in the credits of your average daytime soap or Lifetime original movie?
(seriously, I don't know the answer but would be very curious to know what it is).

At least he is not wearing a t-shirt or any clothing with writing on it. ;-) Don’t listen to them Mike. You look great. The camera just caught you in the middle of a heap compaction / defragmentation.

Hehe I don't know what was going on there :) I attribute it to being at the Real Arcade party where the drinks were free all night long. They must have spent some serious money on that party. It was at a really nice place, with good food, drinks, and even little silver gamehouse coasters. Rumor has it that one of the gogo dancers posed for a pic with Dan MacDonald :o

Actually, it looks like you just got done playing the game "5 minutes of 'anything goes' in a closet with someone". :)

and even little silver gamehouse coasters.
I think Flashbang ended up with at least 10 of those, if you count up our collective pilfering efforts.
Anyone have a picture of the gratuitously bearded man shaking it on the dance podium? He's our lead artist, and got up there for a bit (even scarier, he was sober). I saw a camera flash during his jig, but couldn't see who took the shot.
