As princec:
"1. Whatever PomPom comes up with next" - Go, PomPom, go!
I'm also interested in that golf game Chronic Logic is working on, seems like Capcom's Killer 7 meets EA's Tiger Woods PGA Tour meets Chronic Logic's physics engine, cool!
Also, I'd like to know how well (sales-wise) do the new more hardcore games from PopCap (heavy weapon and the RPG svero mentioned they were working on).

Honestly from the screens of Heavy Weapon, I'm really stunned at the lower quality of art there.
Some of that work looks non-cell shaded with absolutely no work on textures, etc. - obviously the game isn't finished, but it really took me back.

The art(and game) in Heavy Weapon was done with flash(and maybe multimedia fusion)(right?), so you can sort of understand why it is not very good. Also coming from what some people have said the game is not very fun at all. Two modes of play, sort of line adventure going from country to country (with names such as petrolslavakia- er something like that) and then another mode where you just keep going with the goal to survive. And the gameplay... you just drive a tank back and forth with your mouse shooting at things. It might do well. But I think popcap (or the two guys who mostly made it) are just trying to milk Americans.

Can't believe I forgot to mention cletus. I guess cuz I know it will be a while yet. But it's definitely on the list.
Im also curious about the new popcap games and how they do sales wise. From my point of view I'd really like to see heavy weapon do well because whether or not you like the game, if popcap's heavy weapon is a top seller it will help to open up the market a bit. How many times can I really play bejeweled? No offense to reflexive and the fine work they do, but as a player I'd rather see more heavy weapons than Kahuna's. That may boil down to a personal playing preference, but a little more variety would be nice. If the game sells well then portals will be more open to trying shooters and other styles. Platypus probably helped in that respect as well.
As for the artwork in heavy weapon... thats an interesting question. I think the game has much better overall presentation than most other titles in terms of the composition of colors used onscreen and so on. The whole thing put together is nicer to look at than the individual planes and bits. It's hard to say why they chose to make the planes fairly simple looking but it may be that on some levels the simplicity of the solid colors looks better when you compose it with the screen. Lots of texture work can be distracting the same way a high contrast background can. It may be related a bit to compression too. If you look at the files you'll see a lot of effort went into squeezing the game under 10mb. Anyways.. way off topic.

I don't know about that. I've been playing it and I think it's a pretty solid decent little shooter. There are quite a few nice touches. I have some complaints... I don't think the game is perfect, but I think its good and basically pretty fun.
Is there any chance that It Came From Hollywood will be released this year?
If anyone can bring the casual gamer over towards more arcade style games, I'm all for it - go Popcap!

Didn't realize that Heavy Weapon was just released. Wow - what a strange game to come from PopCap. It starts with almost a punk/rappy style music... how are soccer mom's going to react to this???? :p
Whatever's next from Teh Behemoth (after the hominid), and I must know more about this mysterious golf game from the Chronic Logic and Detective Brand... mainly because with a name like Detective Brand, I can't help but be intrigued.

EvilX Systems's long-anticipated "Jesus Christ Super Commando", although I've pretty much given up hope of ever seeing it. (Those from the old Xtreme Games forums will probably get the reference.)

You can tell the cut scenes were done in Flash, but the game was not.

How do you figure? You know they weren't thinking, Oh this will be another Bejeweled. If anything they're taking a chance of offending the sensibilities of their own audience who don't like/won't tolerate such games or won't understand the whole 80s arcade parody. Seems more like an experiment that might introduce new people to casual games.

Thats what Im hoping it will do. I want the game to suceed. I find it funny to characterize heavy weapon as a money grab because it's really just the opposite. Its a total risk for Popcap. I guess they've done well enough that they can afford to take risks and try new things and I'm quite happy they're doing that. It may not appeal as much to their current audience but it may very well bring them some new players and broaden their audience and what the portals and other games sites are willing to try. So I'm rooting for it.

1. My next game. I finally get to work on one of my long time pet projects, so I'm really excited about it.
2. Gilzu's next game (It's a beat'em up).
3. Anyone who attempts to make a casual RPG. I'd be all over it.
Yeah, on the topic of shamelessly promoting your own games.
1. PuffBOMB 2
2. Marketing PuffBOMB 2 (oh you better believe that's a game)
3. Hookzilla/Grip
Ooohh... I can see the anticipation building.

I completely unfamiliar with loads of the soon-to-be titles you guys have posted about! I need to read up a bit more.
Either way, thanks! As a reference, this thread is great. It'll be at least a week before I check up on all that lot!
( apart from PomPom's stuff... obviously! )

Anything between 1 - 2 months. We're gonna start beta testing in about 2 weeks. Exciting, but also very scary times.

No one else is looking forward to Cliffski's Democracy? I guess he hasn't posted enough screenshots or something. But I've been following the development on his blog (http://www.cliffski.blogspot.com/) and it looks like it could be a really interesting game.

I'm on holiday at the moment, by the way. Hello!

Regarding Fate - no screenshots or movies or much of anything on that site as of yet. I'd love to help test - I'm keen on RPG's and really want to find a "casual" rpg. Looks like this uses Wildtanget?
