I getting ready to start a blog on my website, and I am wondering what software every uses for their blogs and why. I don’t want anything that is too bloated. Packages I have looked at seem to be designed for have a website with several blogs where people can customize their appearance. I would really prefer something where I can copy paste my article out of Word and it generate static html pages. Does anyone know of any software like this?

I set mine up at TypePad (http://savant.typepad.com) ... didn't seem worth the trouble to set up my own.

Blogger (http://www.blogger.com)
It is free, simple and allows you to publish onto your server if you want.
I use it and would suggest Feedburner (http://www.feedburner.com) to syndicate with.

My Joe Indie (http://www.joeindie.com/blog/) blog uses WordPress (http://www.wordpress.org), which is free. I use my own software, The Journal (http://www.davidrm.com/thejournal/) to post to the blog.
My only beef with WordPress has been that I can't post images directly to it. That's slated to be added, though. Otherwise, it's been quite nice to use.

I also use Wordpress, as it was one of the packages LizardSoft (http://www.lizardnetwork.com/) provides. I didn't have to do anything more than select and submit to get it up and running.

I rolled my own. More because I thought it was an interesting way to learn ASP.Net than anything else...

Does WordPress allow you to change the date of your post so you can go back and add old entires?
Thanks

We use movable type for the whole site (http://www.lovechess.nl , warning not work safe!!). It's an excellent and very configurable system, we're very happy with it.
The best marketing action we ever did was to start a blog to lure customers (Art of Love). The site attracts on good days more than 100.000 visitors and always some of them enter the store....

Yes.
This sentence is because a one word post is too short for the forum to accept.

Thanks for such quick feedback. I just signed up with blooger. I didn't know they would post to my website. It is really easy to use and works great. Now I just have to start blogging.
