I picked up a copy of this book, gotta love it, it's full of ninjabee stuff. Lots of Outpost K references in the samples and it even comes with a trial version of Outpost K on the cover CD. Kudos to ninjabee on the heads up distribution idea. I've enjoyed reading the book so far and have found it to be an excelent resource.

Thanks for the lead, I'll have to check that one out. :D

I have to say that: "Game Design Workshop: Designing, Prototyping, and Playtesting Games" is the best game design book I've come across so far.

Woo! Cool!

I haven't read the finished book yet, though I provided feedback on several chapters as Brent was working on it. The topic is fairly focused, but within that topic it's got tons of practical ideas and techniques.

The book even shows and talks about a bit of interface from a new game we're working on, I think.

Brent is speaking on the same topic (user interface design) at the GDC this year.

Ya it's a good read, it talks a lot about the realities of developing user interfaces under the pressure and requirements of a retail publisher which I actually find quite valuable as an indie. Often as an indie you don't really have any constraints other then the ones that are self imposed. I think this book gives you a good idea of where to constrain your ideas and how to get things done. I've also found it has a lot of practical techniques and tools for making great user interfaces.

I'm enjoying it so far. You got a big shout out in the acknowledgments to Steve :)
