My apologies for revisiting the-underdogs.org as a topic, however, I was a bit suprised no one mentioned the "Scratchware Manifesto" located here (http://www.the-underdogs.org/scratch.php).
Perhaps it's not worth much of a comment, but (though I read it probably a year or so ago) I thought it summed up the indie model as I saw it, and a sort of desire (at least from the author) for such a market to be available to consumers which was the catalyst for the HOTU store.
The eight games on there isn't much of a testament to developers' opinions or awareness though I do see Mutant Storm and Strage Adventures... there.
