I know these guys will usually approach you if they want to sell your game, some of them already have. However I would like to try and speed up the process by contacting them myself. Im not picky what country they are in, or what they pay, I just want to know as many of them as you can possibly list :)

Its really hard to find them!

P.S Dont say something like EA games, Im looking for people who already have launched indie titles or would be likely to.

I agree that this is valuable information to have. Not saying you have to, but I'd appreciate if people would update the wiki with this information. There is a "retail publishers" section at the end.

I bought such a CD about ten years ago, produced by Saturn Publishing. Their URL is listed as www.saturn.com. Hope that helps ;)

The best way to get a list of publishers who aren't dated would be to visit the software sections of a Wal-mart or a K-Mart store, and note the URLs of such publishers.

Well, not really. I think you are joking about the URL. This is actually a decent example of where knowledge that individuals have can be useful. Has Saturn Publishing gone out of business? Maybe this Saturn Publishing (link deleted) is the same one that published that CD a long while back. Maybe they are still in the business of publishing game collections and it is worth contacting them. Possibly the point you are making is that publishers aren't worth tracking because the information goes out of date, but I disagree with that. It does seem a little silly to use a forum to make lists of publishers, which is why I suggested indiewiki as an alternative.

That would be the best way to locate a subset of publishers--the larger, more obvious ones in the United States. But what about smaller publishers that only have distribution in store chains that reach some states? Or publishers in other countries? Or magazines with promo CDs? Or demo discs that are given away at retail outlets when you make a purchase?

Again, I encourage people to add publisher names in the wiki. And if there is an existing free resource which already does a good job of listing software publishers, please let me know, and the wiki can link to that.

Huh? Why the link to the porn site?

Not a porn site. A porn publisher site. It was just for an example. Kinda wacky, now that I think about it. I'll go back and delete the link.

I still don't understand what you were criticising. I have a shareware CD ("Galaxy of Games") from Saturn Publishing, and their contact info is listed as saturn.com. We all know that in 2005 it is the homepage of a car company. All companies come and go, and one way to get the names of the companies in this business today would be to scout them out at WalMart (and post them here for us :) )

Oh, I think I was probably reading too much into what you said. It comes from being too impatient to ask what you really meant and wait for you to respond, before saying the Very Important Things I have to say. :)

So I thought you were saying it was futile to keep track of publishers, because they come and go, i.e. Saturn Publishing doesn't seem to be around anymore.
