Just curious to know who goes and what pass you would normally choose?

I'm going and will be using the classic pass. Though a couple of the full-day tutorials do seem interesting, I'm not up for a full day of the same subject. The 1-hr sessions, however, are usually very good.

I was king of thinking about getting a tutorial pass, but I am not big on all day events either. Also, I believe that I would be missing the lectures and keynotes? Hmmm...

I'm going classic pass. Other stuff is just out of my price range...

Our guys do this:
http://www.gdconf.com/volunteers/
If you've gone in previous years, CAs are the guys wearing colored shirts checking badges (last year was orange). When you're not working you can choose to ditch the shirt and blend in for sessions/meetings/whatever. You enjoy the full privileges of a Giga pass while not on duty.

Tutorials are not on the same days as the 1hr lectures/sessions. Tutorials are the first 2 days, and the 1hr stuff is on the remaining 3 days only.

I would be interested in meeting with other indie developers at GDC. Let's do dinner one night.

$825 for a Classic Pass?!?!? Holy $h!+...
Is the price linked to bay area home prices or something?
I remember paying ~$300 in 1999, the last time I attended...
Now I'm not saying you need to lower the price because I'm a true free marketeer, but yeesh, I wouldn't pay that on a dare... On the bright side, it makes the CAs effectively much better paid...

Well, I still havn't decided which pass to buy? However, I booked my flight and hotel. Anyone know anything about the "Best Western Carriage Inn*"? Also, it would be cool to get together with a few people from here while at the conference? Who else is planing on attending?

If we want to all get together, maybe the night of the IGF is best and most appropriate? I'll definitely be going to it.

I will be going if I make a finalist position in the student showcase. I entered a demo of Outer-Rim Pod Digger this year.
The results for the student showcase will be announced on the 14th. Keep your fingers crossed for me guys ;)
edit
The damn judges rating out games have resheduled the final results to the 21st. Guess I wont know till then.

Does anyone know the difference between, the Independent Games Festival Awards & IGDA Game Developers Choice Awards on Wednesday (twice), Thurday and Friday. I assume that it is just repeated?

Is it honestly worth nearly a thousand dollars?

IGDA is developer-voted awards. (For example, I voted.) They have categories that you vote on kind of like the Academy Awards. They don't vote on indie games unless one happens to show up in a category. Almost all the games that I saw as nominations were AAA publisher-based titles. Technically, Doom3 was an indie title in the nominations since they built using their own money. :)

Yeah,
I'll be at GDC as a volunteer and then using the Giga Pass priveleges the rest of the time.
Let's do dinner. Last year's Indie Dinner during GDC was great.
Take care,

I'll be there, wandering around with my "press" badge. Dinner sounds great.
