Hi. I recently got scammed. A year and a half ago someone hacked into our computer and stole credit card info, plus some other information, obviously from files. My credit card was charged for like 100 buck by some internet web hosting company. I filed an unauthorized charge dispute with credit card issuer and got my money refunded.

Now, I'm getting a collection letters from a company from CA. Like I own this company around 300 bucks. At first I could not figure out what in the hell is going on and who this company is. Btw address they send it to doesnt even belong to me, but someone I know. Later I recalled this name was assocciated with that charge. I have tried to contact that company, but no one ever picks up the phone. There's some auto response system. I sent explanation to collection agency telling that I have not done any business with this company and gave em copies of credit card statements... They sent me some hardly readable "service agreement" that they say I signed with that company, some kinda account info...with some IP address from north carolina...some information including my credit card # was legit, some bogus... Anyway...

This scum does not wanna leave me alone. I know for a fact that I did not deal this this scammers. They can't prove that I (personally) signed and commited to any kind of service... There's no my signature anywhere...so this is all bullshit...

I don't understand how in hell some scum like that company and a collection agency can go after a persons name and a credit card #, claiming that I owe them anything!?

I heard that these collection agencies can screw up your credit. How can they do this crap if I never binded myself with any paper contracts or given my ss or whatever.. Nothing tangible...anyone could be me in this case...

Anyone have had any experience deal with similar crap? How to fight this scum? What can they do and what can't they?

If anyone interested the company that claims that I bought their services is www.gisol.com ( appeared like COMPUTER PROGRAMMING) on my credit card. I did search on the internet and found bunch of negative stuff about this company that they charge for services you never rendered etc...Damn..what a crap... What's your advise, guys?

Well if you can prove that you don't owe them the money, and show that the papers they sent you are bs, I would threaten to take them to court if they don't drop the collection. Probably have a lawyer send them a letter. The real danger with these guys is not the money, which is minor, but the affect it can have on your credit rating which can then hound you when you want other stuff like a mortgage or car loan. It's probably worth taking the time to deal with these guys.

I'm not sure if I understand the situation correctly, but I would contact your credit card company and tell them this particular charge is fraudulent. Credit card companies often side with their card holders in charge disputes... especially when the internet is involved.

That's the thing. Credit card company refunded my money for this charge. They conducted an investigation with the merchant. But that company that fraudulent charge was applied to filed a collection in my name. Now, collection agency tries to extort money from me.

I sent collection agency a statement from credit card company showing a credit applied for this fraudulent charge, but collection agency sent me another letter with a hardly readable copy of this contract "that I agreed over the internet" (what a nonsense, it could be anything..written there) and some kinda copy from that Gisol with account information and they claim it to be a "proof of the debt".

It seems that they don't want to understand that charge was fraudulent and still want to collect the money. I guess, I'm calling my lawyer today.

I already told them that it's all fraud. But collection agency don't seem to understand that. They sent me account information as a prove of the debt, which proves nothing! All information is partially stolen and partially bogus. They sent me a crappy copy of some service contract from that GISOL.COM.

Where's my signature on it? What a bullshit... I'm amazed how this scum at collection agency still keeps on trying to extort money from me.... Yes, I'm calling my lawyer.
