Hi, all!

Finally, we've released our new game - Paradoxion!

Some quick info:
Paradoxion is an advanced logic game. The goal is to solve all the levels. To solve a level you must clear the game board of all the elements using the contents of the inventory. You can check full customer-oriented description here:

Your feedback is welcome! By the way, we've also redesigned our website (http://www.vsbgames.com ), so feedback on site is welcome, too! :)

Those graphics look very smooth... what language did you use?

Oooh, shiny! :)

Not my style of game (I spend my time at work in deep concentration; I don't like to have to think too much when playing a game), but I think certain people could be really into this.

In any case, the polish and presentation is really slick, definitely up there with the best. One of those games that makes me want to lick the screen.

The website looks pretty sharp, but may be a little too sterile and serious looking for a games site (it just doesn't communicate "fun" to me).

Apparently he used Lua 5.0 (its in the credits), I like the whole concept and the tutorials are rather nice (albiet a little vague, maybe a little more detail is needed in the first two or three just to bed your players in a little), my only concern is that there is no visible score, I'm not sure about other players, but part of the reason I play puzzle games is to beat my previous high score (or the girlfriends, brothers, friends, etc).

Apart from that the game is well presented and executed :)

Thanks everyone for feedback! :)

2BedroomCoder:
We've used C++ as primary language + Lua 5.0. 99% of textures are 32bit PNG that contain alpha-blended pics. The other 1% of textures just don't have any transparent areas :)

2Martoon:
Glad that you've like the graphics and thanks for your suggestions on the site!

2Teq:
There are online solutions for all the levels freely available, so there is no way we can make visible score that makes sense. :

That reminds me- I created a game programming framework for Lua 5.0 a while ago here-> http://geekzine.net/freya

The game does look slick. Not my cup a tea, but I'm sure you could probably make a decent stab with it.

I need to learn what alpha blending means. :p

[EDIT: Just learnt what it means, all makes sence now.]

My current language only offers me 16bit... :-/

Since I'm learning C++, what API do you think I should try for a first API? I know one guy that tried DirectX as soon as he started... but I'm not sure if theres any other less known ones besides "the big 3" that offers me some sort of 3D?

We've used DirectGraphics (DX8) as our graphics API. It took a lot of time to write an engine (with graphics, sound, music, resources, gui and scripts subsystems), so if you don't want to spend a lot of time to develop your own engine from scratch, you may try some of engines/APIs (or just DirectX wrappers) like HGE, GrimAPI or PTK. I don't have experience in these APIs so I can't advise you on which to choose (but I believe that they may help you to save your time!). That's all is useful for you if you want to develop 2d games with 3d hardware axeleration. Can't advise you anything if you want to make real 3d games.
