Hey all,
I know there was at least one other person in Boston, maybe more. Who wants to go have a beer? I've been stuck in my home office waaaay too much. :)
EDIT: Also - let me know if you're headed to the IGDA meetup, Post Mortem (http://www.bostonpostmortem.org). I usually make it to them, and would be glad to meet you.

I'm in the area, and here is a thread I started last year to get a MA headcount: http://forums.indiegamer.com/showthread.php?t=11189.
There is actually a Postmortem meeting tonight, and it's a good one, so be sure to come on over. I'll be there wearing a t-shirt with my company name on it and holding a Blue Moon.

It was PACKED last night. The room hit capacity before 8pm, so we took off to grab some food and came back after the presentation when enough people left that we could breathe in there. It's too bad since the talk was by the inventor of the home video game system, Ralph Baer.

Oh, sorry - I was actually there, I just had no idea you would be! I was the guy talking about the gaming conference with Darius before Baer got up there.
Baer was awesome... he had the kind of stories that I'd love to just sit and listen to for a couple hours. It was a real window into a different time. One of the things that wowed me was that he was a television engineer by training - he came at this all from the perspective of "what can I get a TV to do". Turns out the Odyssey hooked up to the TV via the rabbit ear antenna jack - that was the only input they had at the time.

Hah, yeah, and you always needed to keep a screwdriver handy since a little fiddling around with cables behind the tv would often knock loose anything connected via that antenna "port".
I wish I saw his talk, though I heard he was practically impossible to hear, but I was told his slides would be posted somewhere.
I'm surprised no other MA'ians aren't chiming in. I know Matt was there, but I'm not sure who else.

Not sure if this maps 1-to-1 with his slides, but a lot of what he was talking about looks to be up on his site (http://www.ralphbaer.com/video_game_history.htm).
Yeah, it was a right PITA to hear in there. I ended up sitting pretty much at the front of the stage, and still had trouble. It isn't helped by the fact that the sound of anyone muttering to their friends is very audible.
Think we need to put together a collection for a bigger portable microphone. ;)

I'm surprised there are no other MA indies posting on this thread.
I think it would be cool to have an occasional indie get-together. IGDA is nice too, of course, but it's very student-heavy, so it would be good to have a meeting of just developers.
