I would like to announce the release of OSA Kit (Online Software Activation Kit) which helps you turn your games to online playable games without learning Flash or Java.
Included with the OSA Kit a nice tool to help you pack all your game media into the game EXE so no need to buy any third party tool, that does not mean you can not use third party tools (e.g. MoleBox) on contrary it is possible, so you have many options :)
There is a demo at my site which is a fully functional except
- It shows a nag screen before the game starts.
- It is a ten minutes time demo and the game will be shut down.
You can find more info here http://www.osakit.com
and you can see it in action here http://www.osakit.com/inaction.html
and you can download a demo from here http://www.osakit.com/downloads/OSAKitSetup.exe
I am looking forward to your feedback and orders ;)

So you still weren't able to detect user agent capabilities to check for Internet Explorer...

So one screen says "Please click Yes when the Digital Certificate dialog appears to be able to play the game (it is safe)". Then when I do this and install the control, i get this dialog. "This a demo version of OSAKit and it is NOT recommened to continue. Do you want to continue?"
Should I choose Yes, when it tells me not to?
I had chosen the Deluxanoid link on your page.

Cartman : of course no harm at all. this message is just for demo purpose and it is aimed to game developers only (This is not a system warning it is from my own code!).
Full version of OSA Kit does not have this warning :)
I think that warning is to stop people using the kit without paying. As users would abort the demo like you have.
sphinx: Is it required that a developer has to buy their own digital certificate to use the kit?

Adam : No, but it is highly recommended as long as you want your users to see the certificate from the same web site/source they are downloading the game. The help file comes with the OSA Kit is explaining that in detail and point you to a good source for this certificate :)

Unfortunately this seems to only be good for Windows users since it requires Internet Explorer. Yes it is a huge demographic, but if your goal is to make games for everyone, this isn't going to help. Or am I wrong?

This is a great thing, IMHO. It lets you easily make your game demos web-based, which means it will be much easier (and more attractive) for the potential customer to try, since they do not have to install anything. All they have to do is click the PLAY button. Yes, it only works on Windows, but if your games are for Windows only, you have nothing to lose.

And in my case, I lose two platforms so I'll pass. B-)

Who said you will lose two platforms?!!
You still have your old way of doing things (trial version).
IMHO, this could boost your PC sales, I am not trying to push you to buy just my 2c

I'm sorry, you're right. I am not technically losing the two platforms. I am just omitting them, which is something I would rather not do.

Sphinx, I can't get the package maker to work. I just says "Path not found" when I click on the "Generate Package" button. The "Project File" combo box is also always empty, what's supposed to go there?
It doesn't matter how many files I add/don't add it doesn't work even if I just put the game .exe.

mkovacic : Please download the demo again as it was a small issue with the Package maker or if you want you can make a folder called Output on the C:\ partition and it should work and save your self another download :)

Still no dice. I am able to create the package, but it doesn't work. I renamed the .osa file to .exe and tried running it from windows - the process shows up in task manager for a second and then just dies silently. I was putting 5 files in the package, the game .exe, one file with media and 3 DLLs (can I do that?).
It works with MoleBox, but has the window popping issue.

BTW, it still does not create the package unless I create the "c:\output\" folder manually.

could you please give me a link to your .osa file?

BTW, this is not a huge issue for us, we could set it up ourselves with a bit more effort, so don't break your back fixing it ASAP just because it doesn't work for us.
While we're at it, it would be cool if PackageMaker had a command-line interface so we can stuff the whole thing into our automated build system.

Still doesn't work. I have noticed one thing, though - the package maker generates the .osa file and a .zip file. Zip file contains my files in a "work\MyProjects\projects\caribbeanpuzzle\setups\ou tput\" subfolder, but the osapath.dat file has "work\MyProjects\projects\caribbeanpuzzle\setups\" inside (no output\ at the end). Is that supposed to work that way?

OK, I just tried creating a package with just notepad.exe inside - doesn't work. Then I tried putting my files in c:\ root, so that osapath.dat contains nothing - doesn't work. I'm baffled. Does it work for you with just notepad.exe?

BTW, *any* last folder gets deleted, I tried moving the files around the drive. It also doesn't work when there are no subfolders (the c: root case above). Is it supposed to also have the \CaribbeanPuzzle.exe at the end?

Now I think it is sorted out!!

Please note that the HTML code required to make it work is changed so you must change it in your web page too!!
