Have some posts been deleted? Because with one exception (Mattias), everybody seems to be taking the piss and not particularly helpful at all.
If its a serious offer, post more details.

Well, I wasn't taking the piss. Five grand a man-month is pretty much the standard rate over here for contracting. There'll be more quotes over than under for sure.
Paul's right. 5k/m is in the middle of what I charge, depending on the length of the project.
Remember that we see lots of "hiring programmer" posts every day, and a fair amount of those are time wasters.
So, to reiterate everyone else - let's have some details! :D

I assume that's just a programmer's number. Us artists have always got less than the programmers. It's explains why we always use incorrect naming and wacky Directory structures. It's pay back! LOL ;)

Hey, a job that I can actually do around here! lol
I'd offer my service, depending upon the details. If you can PM me with the following answers to these questions...
1)What kind of game would it be(specifically, what genre)?
2)What language do you need it in(Flash for use in websites, for example)?
3)How quickly do you need it(if any time constraints apply)?
4)What's your budget(how much you'd be willing to spend for the service monthly, or per milestone)?
5)Tell me what you expect the player to do in the game. Objectives, obstacles, boss mechanics etc.
5)Telecommute, or personal?
Of course, if you've already found someone to help you out, good for you. :)

You want it
FAST . FREE . FRIENDLY ?
Pick 2.
I'm guessing you want it FREE & User FRIENDLY?
Which means I'll be taking my time and squeezing it in between my paid commitments ;)
Do you think Mr Bear got scared off?

I don't think Mr. Bear wanted it free.
Based on this and other threads, I think he just isn't very good at communicating what he wants.

I think Mr. Bear had unrealistic expectations, and when he realized that he had to do quite a bit of work to get a game done, my guess is he lost interest...

I kinda figured as much. I thought maybe if I eliminated all the barriers/excuses it would get him to start the process of really contemplating and communicating what is involved.
If I were hiring someone for 5k a month I would at least want a highly experienced programmer with a couple of successful products under his belt and I wouldn't be asking here in the first place.
