Hmm would it be too "anti-puristic" if you made unlimited lives?
I always found all the Dizzy games pretty hard, and the fact that you can lose lives makes it even harder. That's the reason why I usually never got very far in a Dizzy game.
Also, I found it a bit strange that in the "junk room" (or whatever it was called) there are objects hidden just about everywhere, so you have to search every little bit. But maybe that's "standard" for Dizzy fans, I don't really know.
Otherwise, I found it very enjoyable so far, since there are nice backgrounds and I even got to see at least 3 times as much screens as any of the original Dizzy games :)

I've never played any Dizzy games before, but in general I agree with ZeHa. Items that are able to be picked up should probably be auto-grabbed by walking over them.
Also, I found getting stuck extremely annoying. Is there a way to get out of certain areas? The Junk Room, for example? Dizzy doesn't seem to be able to jump high enough to escape that section of the castle.

Hidden objects, especially items to collect, are a standard in Dizzy games. But TOS does not use this in excess. Yes in the junk room, you have to look a little bit to find the item you need. But it's a junk room, what do you expect :)
Some Dizzy games have a lot of pieces to collect (diamonds, cherries, etc). Some are very well hidden. TOS has only a few diamonds hidden that way, and they do not prevent you from finishing the game. They only make a better score, if you find them.
The way of picking items is also standard for Dizzy games, and I wanted too stay very close to the original way.
You're not really stuck in the junk room, you just have to find your way out, not by trying to jump back. In fact, you can't get stuck in the game, by making a mistake, or forgetting to take an item.
If you don't know what to do, and you feel "stuck", try the online walk-through guide, from the official TOS website (in the download section).
The number of lives is compensated by the save game feature. Original games did not have this, but today is kinda standard to be able to save in an adventure game.

Ok, sounds like I just don't know the Dizzy game world.
And I'm impatient about searching around in junk rooms. :)
I do like platform games, however, and enjoyed exploring around the top of the castle.

Always loved dizzy! Will give it a shot looks nice, I like how you've kept SPECTRUM looking graphics rather than other formats/modern (ZX Spectrum being the true home of dizzy ;) )
