ALLIED STUDIOS (formerly Asorson Studios) provides high quality 2d and 3d graphics for indie and casual developers at highly discounted rates. We've been in business for six years now and have contributed art to over 30 games. Since the old thread was getting a little cluttered I thought I would start a new one to show off some of our more recent work.

For more information about us and our services please visit our website: http://www.allied-studios.com

Please consider creating a few "stock" sets of characters and artwork. Indies are in desperate need of stock characters and such to prototype out games. And if an indie game uses your stock stuff - they are probably more inclined to come to you for the "real" artwork once they are ready.

You could sell this stock set(s) for a discount since you've already created them and make things more affordable for indie game makers. You could really make a killing selling the same artwork over and over again as it would be "placeholder" -- of course a game might decide to keep using that , but more likely they would want some customization...

This is something that I will definitely consider. In the past we have focused entirely on building custom artwork but I think it may be time to start producing some stock assets for the indie community. Could you give me an example of what kinds of assets you think would be most valuable and what formats would be most useful? What would your "Stock Asset Wish List" be?

I would buy anything that is fantasy related :)
As for format I think the most common 3d ones, like .max, .3ds, .obj etc for easy import in rendering programs.

Not to hijack the thread but I would be interested in what people are looking for in terms of stock icons & buttons. I'm thinking about adding a feature to Font Fiend that would let it make icons similarly to Icon Workshop (ie. layered effects from a stock of canned graphics). Things like playing cards, tanks, swords, hearts... if you had to pick some finite number, (say 25-50), what would be on your icon wish list?

lennard: dont hijack erik's thread. Make a new one.

Erik: in terms of stock art, one thing to make sure of is that there is a body of objects enough to prototype a game (be that objects or monsters or villagers or whatever), so instead of one model, half a dozen in a similar theme. They can be just different texture sets. Ideally layered PSD's so people can switch on and off the layers for instance.

speaking for myself, I'd like to see some stock "humans". That is, I'd like to see humans of varying proportions, i.e. male child, female child, male teen, female teen, male hero, female hero, male old, female old. I'd like to see those with a basic "nude" skin so that you can map them. Then additional skins such as "villager", "hero", "sci-fi" etc.

The point is to be able to generate a whole game full of fairly generic characters in order to have enough variety to know which character represents which type of unit (i.e. eventually you would want to replace the generic with unique, but at least you should know which ones are which in the generic).

Thats what *I* would like to see :)

Oh and style wise, very much like the image you posted.

Erik, an example of an art studio that makes the perfect "stock art resources" site for me is 3DRT (http://3drt.com/), check it out. Lots of different stuff, layered textures, lots of animations for each model, and cheap!

Thanks for your suggestions,

I'm exciting about branching off into this new area. We will begin work on our first "Pack" soon.
