Is this an old DirectPlay demo ?

Also, does it really need a 4.2 GHz processor ? If the above screenie is inkeeping, I'd expect it to run on a 386. What exactly are you doing with the 2Gb of disk space also.

This has to be a late Aprils Fool ? :)

Actually it says Pentium IV 2.0 GHz. 2GB HD is a typo imho, should be 2 MB.

This game would run nicely by software blitting into a GDI dib which would make it run on *any* pc, which would remove the DX9 requirement.

Just going from the screenshot:

Background looks too dull and empty, needs some sort of starfield nebula type thing.

Planets need texture of some sort.

Fonts are a bit plain, could use them being a bit clearer too.

Fine for a first game, in terms of choosing something do-able. Keep at it!

You guys are correct about the excessive harware requirements.

I will update the readme to show...

RAM: 128MB RAM
HD Space: 2MB
VIDEO CARD: 100% Windows compatible video card
SOUND CARD: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

I started this game just for learning DirectX. It's based off the C++ Simple Sample that comes with the DirectX SDK. It's using textured quads with an isometric view. I plan to use this as a framework to develop more 2D games. Later I can add 3D effects.

And you can tell it has programmer art and free sound. :(

For me, I enjoy playing it but the game sound is annoying, so I toggle it off and crank up some Tool or Godsmack and play away.

Thanks, I will keep improving it (if I can stop playing). :cool:
