I've been working on this for a while now, and I've finally got the core gameplay implemented. However after staring at this for so long, I figured it was about time to get some feedback on what others thought of it and suggestions on things to add / change.

There's a decent chunk of placeholder art in there and a couple minor bugs when changing levels but nothing serious that I'm aware of.

I have plans to add some other gameplay elements on various levels but I think that I better get the core gameplay refined before I start changing things, which is why I'm releasing a playtest demo.

The playtest demo has 3 levels (easy, med, hard) and I'd like to know if my sense of how difficult they are is way off kilter, and any other suggestions for it you guys might have, or if its any fun at all.

I can't really evaluate the game properly because the controls are too difficult for me. Why not allow the player to use the left and right arrow keys to control the ship (like Asteroids), instead of the mouse?

In three attempts, I wasn't able to save the patient on the first level, because I couldn't get to all the virus outbreaks in time. Also, there seems to be a bug that when the game ends, the keyboard controls are disabled, and then never reenabled when a new game starts. So I had to CTRL-ALT-DEL to start playing again.

Oops got that keyboard mapping thing taken care of and a new version uploaded..
Thanks for checking it out.

Hm.. the fastest way to locate the infections is to use the map view. When the pathogens are roaming around they'll show up as reddish blotches on the map, but infected cells wont show, so you have to keep an eye on the pathogen count and flip open the map before they reinfect.

As for the controls, that's not something that had even crossed my mind. I guess I had just assumed that everyone was comfortable aiming with a mouse and pushing a keyboard button to move forward. Maybe I play too many shooters..:)

Anyone else care to render an opinion on control schemes?
