It's been a long time coming and something that I know that many here have been waiting for, so I thought I'd mention it :).

Mac games have been added to the Reflexive affiliate program. More details can be found in GameCenterSolution, along with information about another big addition today...

...our website development kit has been updated...make that completely revamped.

The new development kit was initially begun to help affiliates collect emails and send newsletters as well as making the system more database driven. Those changes have been made, and when deployed the new development kit runs off a slick back-end that includes a log-in system to access the arcade manager. The set-up has mutliple templates to get affiliates started in created a more customized website solution.

Many months of work completed today! Enjoy!

(Also here is the press release (http://www.reflexive-inc.com/press%20releases/mac_arcade_announcement.htm)that went out about the Mac Arcade addition to Reflexive (http://www.reflexive-inc.com/press%20releases/mac_arcade_announcement.htm))

Hi,

I downloaded the new WDK and have been struggling to get it installed on my shared hosting account. One of the main problems that I have encountered is the use of the PHP functions fopen and file_get_contents (which uses fopen I believe). The problem is that many hosting solutions are disabling these functions as they apparently pose a security risk so it's not possible to use the install script. I've been working through the script changing it over to the curl_init, curl_exec, etc. functions and am making progress.

I don't mind doing this but obviously when a new release is available I'll have to go through the process again. Do Reflexive plan on changing these php files to make them more suitable for affiliates who do not have total control over their hosts?

Cheers,
Adam.

Thanks for the reply Adam, I'll forward on your thoughts and get back to you :)

No problem. If I get it working I'll be happy to forward any changes I've made back to team so that can use them if they like.

Cheers,
Adam.

Thanks!
Chatted with the two people behind the WDK and they wanted to mention that they were working on the issue. They also mentioned that they were looking to go a different route than cURL as they felt it wasn't guaranteed to be on all webhosts (as its an extension of PHP). (which is all a bit technical for me :) )

Thanks for taking a look and trying it out!

Good news! We just put up a new build of the WDK that should fix the fopen()/file_get_contents() problem that some affiliates experienced due to their web host turning off the allow_url_fopen PHP setting.

You can download the new WDK from the GameCenterSolution Control Center.

Please email wdk@gamecentersolution.com if anyone has issues with the new build.

Enjoy!

Going to try it. I have dedicated server but with PHP5 there are lot of (somewhat insane) security problems (ie. scripts that worked before now don't work anymore).
I'll let you know if works :)

That's great. I'll give it a try when I get the chance and let you know if I have any problems.

I love the idea of the installer, but when running it I get the fopen error still. Is anyone else still having trouble?

Warning: fopen(../RADK/config/credentials.php) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /everybodysgames.com/WebsiteDevKit/Manager/install.php on line 296
WDK Manager Installer
Please correct the following errors:

* Could not create ../RADK/config/credentials.php

I've emailed the wdk email, mentioned here, a couple of days ago but had no response as yet.

Had the same problem. Here was their answer (hope this helps you, it did me).

"It sounds like the WDK is having a problem creating the credentials.php file in the RDK/config directory. Please ensure that write permissions are enabled for the config directory". (With thanks to John. It solved this issue) :)

Just wanted to report this, not to criticize Reflexive but to help them improve... I saw the gamecenter site is very often down (I saw it down at least 2-3 times this week).
The normal iframe to sell games works fine, is only the developer/affiliate admin that has this kind of issue (other people I talk with reported this as well).

Well, actually now I can't even download any game from the gamecentersolution.com since 2-3h... hope it's just temporary.

GCS is down for me, both storefront and dev centre.

Yeah it is since around 10AM, GMT... quite long time, about 4-5 hours now  guess they're having some serious server problems.

Check your "Jobs List" in the Manager as well. The list of errors is getting quite long. I reported an error (a different entry) yesterday to them in regards to the "game feed". Would be nice if they had sent a mass email to all affiliates letting them know what's going on and when we can roughly expect the server to be back in action. ;)

Up and running now ;)

Unfortunately, there was a DNS problem at our NOC this morning from around 2am-7am PDT that made it so that GCS could not be reached. They have fixed the problem now and GCS should be back up and running.

The problem is completely unrelated to the WDK, but it explains why the WDK would complain that it could not download the game feed.

Sorry that we couldn't post the status sooner. I've also put up a message on the GameCenterSolution Message Center.

Thanks Issac, but I'm still seeing the below in the Jobs List.

That sounds like a different issue. If it is an error about the order feed, it is something that we are aware of and are working on fixing on our side. It shouldn't be anything you need to worry about. Feel free to email us at wdk@gamecentersolution.com for more WDK help.

Thanks.

That indeed is the error that I emailed about. I'll wait patiently :)

would that be why I couldn't verify the cronjob status too?
Current Job Status: "Not running"
Please click the "Verify Job Setup" button to check to see if GameCenterSolution has successfully told your server to run the job.

If you are referring to the downtime a couple days ago, no that wouldn't have caused your problem. I just sent an email to you regarding your installation.

Thanks.

We made some changes on our side so that you should no longer be getting those order feed job errors every 30 minutes.
