I'm looking into making my first game that can be downloaded via a website, I have a few issues i'd like to clear up.
1) Does activation code/payment software exist ? ie
i) the user downloads the software from a unique generated url (I have bought software where I have to click on a link to download the software.
ii) the user downloads the software but an serial number must be entered before using the product.
2) Are there advantages using e-commerce software over paypal ?
3) (see question 1) How does a piece of software that generates a code to download from tell the game that that link is valid. Is it the case of just buying the software and installing it on my server space ? Does it have to be secure server ?
4) If i opt for hard copy cd rom and cases where can i get these from and how do i print my logo on the cd itself ?
5) What is a good way to market my game, are there sites that allow me to write a feature etc. penny arcade ?
6) I am spending my own time creating this game and hope to get a coder on board, I am hoping to pay the coder with sales cash. Is this a fair way to work with someone or will all hired staff expect cash up front ? contract has to be made obviously. I was hoping to split the profit 50/50.
7) Would i have to start up a company and pay income tax on sales after release ?
