I tried widget-bucks for a month but it looks "aggressive" with all the animation and moving. I will remove it in next days and I decided that I will offer this block as advertising option to any interested indie game developers.
The first month I want to see how it will all work out so I am offering a very simple plan and IMHO a low price.
* $8 per one ad
* 1 month
* 300px X 250px image (no flash)
* I will accept max 5 ads that will be rotating
* Only games or websites which are at least somewhat family friendly
* you get normal (seo friendly) html image link
for comparisson Text - link - ad on my site is worth $45.
---
This box is displayed on visible place in the front page and multiple back-pages. The widget-bucks widget which will be replaced by your ads had 10,297 impressions last week. If you go to www.bravekidgames.com you will see blue "Affordable laptops" box on the right... that will potentially be replaced with the same size ads from you.
You can see the stats of BKG website from stat-counter from last 7 days on this screenshot..
http://www.bravekidgames.com/img/stuff/bkg_statcounter.jpg
daily average was:
page-loads: 3,534
unique: 1,576
first time visitors:1,365
returning: 211
//added later
I remembered that when I was buying advertising I wanted to know which countries the visitors come from . Here is a direct export from google analytic
http://www.bravekidgames.com/img/stuff/google_analytic.pdf
You host the banner yourself so you can see impressions by yourself, I can also show any relevant stats from stat-counter or Google analytics to the ones that order advertising at any time.
You can email me at janko.itm AT gmail.com
Payment can be processed over Plimus or pay-pal.

I am talking with 3 interested indies right now. As I said I can take only 5. I will go by the order how they contacted me not "who sends the money first" so that they can have time to think as I don't want to rush anyone into deciding. (and I will go to sleep now , It's night over here)

2 positions are currently still free for next month. I removed the widgetbucks and placed indie ads there so you can now find this block/spot by looking for 300x250 px image ad below "What can you do here?" box (right - top area)

just curious, how did you get this high number of visitors? i just looked at your code and it did not look like you did any search engine optimization... maybe you can give some hints? big thx

The number is not that high really. If I would want to be concrete as affiliate it would have to be at least 3-5 times that and I am trying to improve it but it doesn't go so simple.
I currently try to hold on to these two...
a) Release things (free or for purchase) - post them on download or other appropriate sites - make press releases ...
b) Try to make something on a website that will make at least some percentage of visitors visit is repeatedly. For example if you just have 2 games on website after someone downloads it there is not much point in visiting your site more than once a month to see if you released something new.
for a website time is very important factor also... BKG is out there for few years now.
edit: yes I didn't yet do any real SEO ... I plan to fix it to some minimal degree sometime soon , but I don't like agressive seo as I think it won't last and can also have negative effects. I mostly try to do VIO (visitor opt.) but I see some sites get a lot of traffic directly from search engines so SEO is important too probably (for example that yupgames.com)

I might consider this, but is there any way you could remove the word "ad" from the image? Because that causes Firefox Adblock to block it automatically, I didn't even see the ads there until I opened it in IE.
Janko,
I'm interested in your offer. Is my game (Tongits (http://www.tongits.net)) ok to advertise?
And is there a minimum number of months to advertise or can I just start with 1 month and then see if it works and go from there? And how about the click rate, what's the percentage of outgoing traffic through the ads relative to the unique visits to your site?
Thanks,
Rico

Uh, I didn't see your two posts.
rico: I think your game is perfectly ok for BKG audience. Yes, of course you can take just 1 month. I have no idea of the click rates because I offer a direct link to your webiste (could help with seo) so my server doesn't know when someone clicks the link. I said to my current advertisers that I will code them a little php stats app that they can use to track clicks but I haven't yet managed to make it. Otherwise a link can by something like www.yourwebsite.com?ref=bkg so you can trace it in some webstat programs already. The add image is also served on your server so you can see the exact number of impressions if your own web-stats (if you have this sorts of stats).
Rinku: Hm.. I didn't know for that , I use firefox too but I don't have any adblocking I think. I looked and the word "ad" is in some of the image names so I will notify the oadvertisers to change the filenames. Or did you see it anywhere else? Thanks for telling me.

Weird how other people offering ads get loads of interest but I never get any. My prices are a little higher than bravekid's offer, but with 10-20 times the traffic. Guess $50 is way too much for an indie to risk?

Hi nexic... I like you so I am not looking for a fight :) . I don't know why? I am no getting exactly loads of interest and my initial offer was $8 which is really small price for a big pic on very notiacable position of the website. A text link below that spot costs $45 on TLA for example.
besides alexa shows only minor difference between DF an BFG ... I would lower the price and try again if I were you. You can always raise it..
//edit
If you make an affordable offer even I might buy it for my sleeping timeeaters site :) .. if you need a rotation script I can send it to you , (it's just few lines of code). I think you will sooner find 4 out of 5 advertisers for 1/5 of price than one for 5/5 of it..

Well, I haven't done much advertising, but as Janko said $12 a month is a good price... and Brave Kid Games' visitors are a better match for the casual feel of Game Socks than the other sites I saw offering advertising.

Nexic, how many unique visitors do you get a month? My feeling is that your site is a little too hardcore for REE but I am interested in spending $ on advertising that I feel is a good value. Unfortunately, every time I do the math on advertising the #'s fall out at me losing a few cents per set of eyeballs. As an engineer I just don't see the point. I know, grow your base, yada, yada, yada, but I just don't believe my site is that sticky so I do the math based on what percentage I believe will download (maybe 10%) and the fact that my conversion rate suggests that I net about $16 per sale or, expecting a 1% conversion, about 16 cents per download or, expecting the 10% download rate, 1.6 cents per visitor.

I've paid more than that for ads but it depends on the site... if this is for your zombie mmorpg I suspect you may not have the right audience for me... :)

Jakom, sorry I honestly didn't mean to hijack your thread so much. I was just thinking out loud.
BFG? I guess you mean your site, BKG. Of course Big Fish Games has a higher Alexa ranking than me :) Whilst Alexa is fairly accurate for high traffic sites, it's not so great for ones like ours and can vary wildly since it's entirely dependant upon visitors having the toolbar installed. There are sites out there with 50,000 uniques per day who haven't broken the top 100,000 in Alexa. So I don't really pay much attention to it.
5,000 uniques and about 20,000 impressions per day currently, so actually the difference isn't as big as I said before. My offer would be $150/month with no rotation which works out at $0.25 CPM for a top 728 banner (BKG would be around $0.45 CPM). But I see the point about the theme, you're definitely casual friendly.
But there isn't actually much point advertising on the pre-release forums since the game will be out in a couple of weeks. So I don't know why I'm posting all these figures - just thinking out loud :)

Nexic - Your site is too genere specific. You really can't go by typical stats because they are skewed. What I would do is offer pricing depending on what they are advertising. Shooters, etc, get charged the highest, where as casual (puzzle, etc) ads get charged much lower. You always pay more for targeted users. ;)

@Nexic: no problem at all, think outloud all you want...
yes I meant BKG , I don't know where I pulled BFG from.
I was thinking a little and I would pay $30 to up to $40 for 1/5 of the traffic that you mention for a month. I know you said you will have it released in few weeks but we all know last weeks turn into moths in a blink ;)

Oh no, I got enough hate mail for the last delay (which ironically is a good sign). This game will be done on time, even if I've got to work 24/7.
Thanks for the offer, but at this point it's really too late to be worth doing.

I again have -2- 300x250px image slots empty. Price is $12 per month (all other info is the same as on my first post in this thread). The traffic went a little down since then but we just released 2 games (one free DL, one flash) so it started to go up again.

Janko
