It was just announced about 3 days ago when I am posting this. Grand Prize is $1,000 and the game must be Winter themed. I don't know if anyone really uses GM any but, heck it is free to enter so, why not give a shot at $1,000 (or even $500 or $250)

How funny; my partner and I have been screwing around with game maker lately. I'll let him know about the contest. Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah sounds like fun so i sat down for 30 mins with a pen and paper and came up with the idea of "SnowMan"

Early design is to control a snowball and try to turn the snowball into a snowman by collecting in a certain order all the parts for eg a few buttons, a carrot for the nose, hats, scarfs ect.

As you roll along the snowball gets bigger and bigger and when you get to a certain size you can collect the bigger pieces like twigs/branches for the arms.

Hit a hazzard and you lose some snow (size) and any items that are too big so for eg you can only collect the buttons as a small snowball then you get to medium size and collect a hat but if you hit a hazzard you will drop back down a size and lose the hat but keep the buttons.

Started work on it tonight with an artist friend so i will let you know if we decide to enter the comp with it although it seems fun in my head it might be a complete waste of time in reality but i have lots of ideas already so who knows:P

Compared to what I have seen so far from the entries, it seems like that would definantly finish in the top 10 and maybe top 5. Just behind mine of course. ;)

You have to remember that the general user base of GM is 10 - 13 year old boys who don't know much. You just gotta watch out for that occasional older person who is good.

Mine is about shopping in Wal-Mart on Black Friday. :P
