Not very accurate: my site http://sint.sf.net had about 50,000 visitors in the last 30 days (according to nedstat):

"Estimated 404,200 visitor sessions in the last 30 days."

These types of tools use sample metrics so #s can be thrown off wildly. Basically they're only useful to guage if site draws little, decent, good, large, huge, etc amount of traffic. They're useless to judge exact #s.

What blows me away is how wildly alexa gyrates for us on a daily basis having nothing to do with real traffic patterns. At a high enough traffic level you'd think it was seeing enough sample points to draw a pretty consistent solution. Makes me think their sample size is pretty darn low.

heh well obviously it seems the lower the value the less accurate it is (which makes sense). Still if that msn gaming zone is anywhere NEAR that value it's still amazing

How about this:

forums.indiegamer.com

Estimated 192,000 visitor sessions in the last 30 days.

It's not even close for forums.indiegamer.com... We have way less visitors per month than that....

Bah you just don't understand their great algorithm:
visitors=rand()%50000*googlerank
