Hi Guys,

I'm piecing together a marketing schedule; just broad catagories, which I can flesh out later.

So far I have:

1. Research (i.e. reading books and articles).
1a. Reading.

2. Prepare Marketing Materials (i.e. screens and movies).

3. Prepare Website.

4. Press Releases.
4a. Magazines.
4b. Game News Websites.

5. Newsletters.

6. Affiliate Program.

7. Submit to Download sites.

8. Sumbit to Portals.

I intend to kick off my marketing schedule, when my game is near end of development and start of test phase. I'm considering portals as a secondary line of action, i.e. after direct sales.

Have I missed anything in my marketing schedule? Anything that should be there, but isn't?

Many Thanks,
Jamie.

EDIT: I'll keep updating this list (may also be a useful resource for other people).

A word of warning - beware step 1! I usually always get stuck on that one. It's bad to skimp on research but you'll stop completely if you don't know when to stop researching and start doing.

Suggested alteration:

1. Research topics to look into.
1a. Read up on topics from 1.
2. Etc...

Points 6-8 are pretty much simultaneous, I think.

I can see how step 1 could easily become my favourite form of procastination!

:)

Thanks for the heads-up though.

I guess 1 is what I'm doing now.

I will of course have a look myself, see if I've missed anything obvious, but in the mean time, if anyone else has any suggestions ...

Very good point... I'd also skip step #1 and just go with everything else.
