Turbogems is a action oriented block matching type of game, in a Sci-Fi/Space setting. Columns of coloured blocks are steadily falling into the playing area. You have to make matches and prevent the blocks from reaching the top. Keep at it, and you have a shot at 21 trophies, 36 titles and a lot of fun!

Music & Sfx is done by Jean-Marc Lederman (Fairies, Mystic Inn, Atlantis & a lot of other hit games).

Let us know what you think.

It plays good and the music is great, I like the ideas but.....

You need an artist, I noticed your brothers and one does art one does programming, thing is if this was in a differnt style I think it would sell really well but as it is the way it looks justs puts me off.

Imagine instead of the old and outdated space level you had a snow theme with maybe an igloo with smoke coming from the ice chimney and brightly coloured washing hanging from the line like poker dot boxer shorts and some fish jumping out of a pool with a polar bear trying to catch them and instead of the metiors you could have snow balls.

If you changed the art style to cute with humour i think it would be a potential portal release but as it is now its just sales from your own site time.

Good Luck,

Darren.

Video looks good, I won't touch DR download wrapper, sorry. I had wierd things happen to my system a long time ago from them. It's always easier to go with a space theme compared to coding "themes" or "worlds" like DK suggested. Right now it will appeal more to the male crowd, chicks don't really like space games, etc. The cool thing is, with the Winter Holiday fast approaching, turn the roids into snowflakes or snowballs, slap some winter theme backgrounds, purchase them cheaply from royalty free stock graphics suppliers, etc, etc and slap out a "Turbo Snow Gems" version and you'll probably have a decent chance at capturing some of the hungry Holiday crowd, but alas like DK says, other than standard affiliate sales and sales from your own site, I doubt the bigger portals would pick it up. But they might so it's worth a try. :) Good luck!

A very good idea! Unfortunately, a bit too late for this game. If I had thought of it myself, I most certainly would have done it!

D/Ling demo.

However, why did you use Download Manager? It's under 20 MB, small one, so don't have to use it.

there's a download manager? oh good, I should remember NOT to download this then. :)

(I am profoundly irritated when I click on a link to download a game, leave it to download in the background (my Downloads window is set not to be displayed) and come back to where I downloaded that game later expecting it to be all ready to play - and find out that instead of a 100MB game to play I have nothing but a 300K Download Manager to delete.)

Tried 20 minutes of this game.

Basically, good puzzle game. You might know good things for the game already, so I'd write bad things.

- Why use 'Download Manager', when it's under 20MB? : Some people might dislike it, or even NEVER d/l.

- Too easy for the start. : There might be 'more difficult' mode, but I must clear 10 & 15 level of 'easy-Classic' mode. I played 20 minutes, just went to lv. 7. So why player must play 'easy-and-boring' version around 30 minutes, to unlock 'difficult-and-fun' version? If you'd like to stick to 'Classic' version & unlock more, you'd better make 'Difficulty' option for the 'Classic'.

- More polish will make the game better. : This is good game, but it would be better, if you could polish it more.

I'd be glad to get 'Full Version' to review for Pig-Min, anyway.

Agreed. I hate download managers. They always make me think something fishy is going on. My web browser is perfectly capable of downloading...

So you posted this here looking for advice or at least feedback. Here's the feedback. Get rid of the download wrapper!!!

I'll not even d/l if it is wrapped in that app.

I tried to avoid using it. But the thing is, buy and automatic activation from within the wrapper only works if I use the download manager.

If I don't use it, the game will open a browser window and after buying the game, you will have to download the 'full version'. Again using the download manager :(

I wonder if using a download wrapper will reduce the game downloads? Bah. Another mistake to avoid the next time. I did not think it through completely I guess.

There isn't a difficult mode, you clear 10 & 15 level of classic mode to get access to different modes of play. BUT, eventually game will start to get difficult. You will hit your first challenge on level 16.

I am interested in knowing what extra polish you have in mind, can you give any pointers?

I will PM you with details about the Full Version.

In fact, I didn't know about 'Download Wrapper' problem, that so many people hate it.

But, well, let's see here. Too many people already hated it in this thread. Maybe more & more people will hate it all over the world. I think you'd better NOT use it next time, or get rid of it now.

Basically, I think this is good game. However could be better.

Maybe you could get more Polish idea, from your Publisher - Casual Game Specialists, however here comes few from me.

- Gem is not very Gem-looking. : Think about [Bejeweled]. It's very Jewel-ish.

- Gem Color is somewhat not-so-good. : Better color could be made. And that 'Red' is very similar to another color, so I mistook them several times.

- SFX is good, but people will not know, before playing 3-5 min. : Well. I can't expect there will be such a good SFX, at the start of the game & even from the trailer.

- Minimal background is good, but all the same is too much? : Eh... Not sure you'd better touch this or not, however my opinion. Some people could it's Too minimal? Try [Venice] from Popcap / Retro 64. It's very Minimal game, but stage background 'seems to be' different.

And try [Exocubes].

I think it's worth to try for you, in many ways.

The problem maybe is bcause you are hesitating between two styles: casualish and space/tech.
Maybe you should either:
-get rid of space backgrounds, techy hud and replace with more casualish theme and make the gems prettier
OR
-keep the s-f aspect and replace the gems by sthg more adaptd like robots or capsules or sthg.

Played full version, unlocked all mode, will write short review for Pig-Min.

Review will have almost same aspects, which I wrote above. However this will be added.

- Lack of Difficulty Setting. : Game system is good. But it's TOO EASY & makes me BORING. Even if I unlock all mode, all of them are TOO EASY & BORING. Of course, it will be difficult later stages, but will people endure until then, around 1 hour play? If you'd add 'Difficulty Choose' menu, 3 or 5, that could be much better.

Basically, it's good game. But has many flaws, which will hide good things.
