I'm looking for nice digital images to use as backgrounds in my puzzle game.

Maybe you could suggest a link to royalty free images like

Many thanks,
Andy

I might be wrong, but I just read through Digital Blashphemy's page and while you can license some of it's work, it looks like you have to be a member on top of that. I don't think it's really cost effective to pay 250$ plus membership per image. At that price you could have them custom made for you, esp if you are looking for simple space landscapes of abstract 3d.

I know Mike http://forums.indiegamer.com/member.php?u=3322 used pre-made backgrounds for Storked (http://storkedgame.com/)and custom made graphics for the rest, I don't know if he's willing to share his source.

I would be glad to share my source. I searched and used istockphoto.com (http://www.istockphoto.com). You can buy illustrations & pictures for approximately $5 each. They permit you to use them in pretty much any way possible as long as you aren't selling the pictures. The only added expense with the illustrations is they are almost all eps vector art files so you'll need adobe illustrator or something to really use them and size them correctly.

Many thanks for that. Hope I'll find something I could use.

3D landscapes would be best.

Alternatively, use Terragen (http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/) and make your own. You do need to register it though (which costs $99) if you're using the output for commercial purposes.

You could hook up with people making sci-fi landscapes using planet mojo.
