I am writing my first book on 2D game programming. I cannot pay for the following areas that I need help in, but I think it would be a good experience nontheless for those wanting to reach out to large crowds. The book will be an online product and I'm somewhat looking into lulu.com for other options. The following positions are open:
1) Considering my poor art style, I would be definitely interested in finding an artist who can help with writing sprite/character maps and help with the book cover art.
2) I'm quite interested in including articles along with the book. The articles would need to be general algorithms for 2D games or OpenGL-specific in special effects, etc. General game programming topics are welcomed too. The idea is once the reader is done with the book, there are additional resources that he can study on his own. The articles will be bundled together on the download page.
3) Royal free art & sound/music are always helpful for the novice to expand his ideas into games with premade resources.
It would be great to have you included. If you are interested, please contact me at philvaira@gmail.com for more information.

I honestly wish you the best of luck in this endeavor, but I feel compelled to offer my humble advice...
It sounds like you're putting together one of those books that just enrages me when, after spending around $50 to gain some knowledge, I find out that the author(s) know even less about the subject than I do. You're asking for free contributions and you're going to get what you pay for.
The best books are written by people who feel that they truly have something to say, and decide that a book is the best medium with which to get their message across. You're doing it backwards; you want to sell a book, so you're now searching for something to write about.
This doth not a bestseller make.

Well, as they say... "Those who can't, teach." ;)

Well, I'm sad to hear about that. I'm a heavy book reader myself and I have come across some horrible books in the past. What I'm doing is writing a e-book towards beginners who want to learn OpenGL. The problem is every book they read on their API of interest these days is focused on 3D. I'm turning that around and have instead a focus on 2D. The hope is that we'll see more beginners entering OpenGL without having 3D knowledge and dense math skills as a bare minimum. Another hope is that they won't have to learn 3D to learn 2D afterwards. The feedback that I have been getting has been really great (besides here so far). If you look around all the OpenGL-related websites, you won't see much on 2D. In fact, I managed to find a 2D tutorial on a Japanese website! The information is not easy to find, and since I know the topic fairly well now, I want to provide a book that help beginners get started with OpenGL with writing 2D arcade games again instead of (sometimes i like to joke about) feeling they are ready to write DOOM 4.
The deadline is in January, so feel free to contact me before then.

Not to jump on the bandwagon...
Are you maybe writing a 2d graphics book on top of OpenGL? Shouldn't take a whole book to cover how to open up a bitmap on a display.

You could reuse art from any of your games. I'm assuming that since you're writing a book on game programming you must have a bunch of published games.
