Team name:
Pending project completion, 'Elsoft Design and Media', (EDM Games).

Project name:
Kingdoms of D'Arbra

Brief description:
KOD is a concept game. Designed as a middle ground between MUDs and contemporary MMO platforms, the game reverts to a 'cartoony' SNES RPG environment, while delivering combat, crafting, faction, pvp, and world details comporable to the great MUDs of old. A gamer's game if you will. For information regarding game concepts and approach, visit our forums: the Features thread here (http://kodonline.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=6). (Being an avid gamer myself, I would base all of my decisions of assistance on what I found there, but that's just me.)

Target aim:
Overall: Freeware MMO for deep MMORPG fans.
Current 'Help Wanted' aim: MMORPG fans looking for a good freeware project, most likely driven by gaming philosophies.

Compensation:
In the small chance that an enormous outpouring of help from the community results in an overwhelming success, the game would be available to produce for retail - as the engine and game concepts are all original and license-able - meaning parties involved would certainly be justly compensated. Short of that, don't bet on it. Do it for fun!

Technology:
Platform - PC
Language - C# Managed DireectX 9 (note: although it is a 2d sprite game, it is written in Direct3D, creating MANY possibilities and simple coding.)
Imagery - simple bitmaps. In the final package, graphics will be compiled into binary data. Photoshop, Paint, no matter.
Sound - Wav files.

Talent needed:
2D Animator - Paperdoll 2D player Animation, to be used as a benchmark for completion of the engine and for both functional use during Alpha testings, as well as curb appeal for attracting a pre-release community base and other developers. The engine is nearly complete now, and some game systems have begun. However temporary animations drawn by THE PROGRAMMER (eep!) have been used up to this point and are now insufficient. For more details regarding how to format such sprites, just ask. The animations will be in "paperdoll" format, with different sprites being drawn to compile a final player image, resulting in very customizable players and items.

2D Artist - Map design. Much like the paperdoll animation, the KOD engine is running strong, loading and drawing maps, etc. However, the maps have been "bare bones" and again, drawn by the programmer up till now. A very small and simple map is needed to finish the engine production and display the full capabilities, helping to attract... you get the picture.

To clarify, the KOD engine is made to run many layers of animatable sprites, creating that classic "SNES RPG" look. If this is your style, this is your place! Help us show off the engine.

Additional Info:
To summize, KOD is a concept game with an original engine that is nearing completion. Basic player animations and mapping are needed to complete the engine and the game features, as well as display the overall capabilities of the engine. This game is about the spirit of these games, and is created from a passion for them as well as an exciting game concept. I again urge you to read the Features thread of our forums, as it is the heart of the project. Please do not apply if you do not truly want to help, or do not understand the vision we are striving for. Thanks.

Check out a very poorly animated demo here (http://elsoftdesign.no-ip.biz/kod/game.zip).
Note: I do not guarantee the stability or appeal of the demo, as it is constantly under construction and modified to test certain purposes. It is not a flashy 'look at me' demo. That will come after you, the artist have your way.

Feedback:
Any you like. The project goes on the same regardless, but its nice to hear thoughts!
