Hello Everyone:
I've had a few logos in the past... and maybe that's a bad thing. So, I've decided to try and find one that I like a lot which will go really well as a game dev studio's logo.
Here was my first attempt at something permanent...

And here's my second attempt, which I like a lot better

I'm kind of happy with the second one, but I wanted your guy's thoughts and opinions before I made the decision to keep it. What do you guys think about the two I have here? Is there anyone who wouldn't mind making us a logo that will be able to stand the test of time? I'll trade a logo for some other art, or a pre-release copy of my current game :D
Here are some hires backgrounds if anyone's feeling sporty(though they have too much bright white for my eyes... at least you can see the detail ):

I like the first one (attempt).

Another vote for your 1st attempt. Shape and font are more round and soft like a tablet of soap. :) You could even try to use convex or concave letters. But then your logo might look like this one:

I like the color scheme of the second and the design of the first...
The first would be too bright on a white background. Not sure what you're using.

I also prefer #1 (but needs slightly darker colours).

I changed the first logo to have the color scheme of the second. I agree with the color change. This looks a lot better. Thanks guys :)
I'll try changing the font for the better... right now both of the logos have a cool Verdana font (who doesn't love this font? :D )
I would still appreciate more thoughts and opinions on the first set and the changes in this post.
edit:
here's a web 2.0 background of this last logo just for kicks

I like your latest one alot, however I'd add a few more smaller bubbles to emphasize the name.
Very nice overall.
Just one thing to consider:
This logo contains the ugly but nonetheless popular "a funny reflection-like curve"-style, which is seen everywhere today, even on Vista's solitaire cards ( ).
I for myself really HATE it. Now, of course, it's a matter of taste. But keep in mind that in a few years, no one really wants to see this anymore. Which means the logo is probably anything but timeless. So if I were you, I'd think over it a bit again. Yes, it might be not a big thing to remove that thing lateron, and keep it as a flat design as soon as the "funny reflection-like curve"-trend seems to drown, but then you should try already now, if it would still look appealing.
One thing I have to admit is that it doesn't look too bad, it's actually one of the prettier examples of this curvy thing (your second attempt is worse in my opinion). But on the other hand, it doesn't really look like a soap-bar (which you might have wanted). In the end it's your choice, but I'd like to at least encourage you to also think about that.
And one last thing: the font is not exactly centered ;) but the font itself is pretty, plain Verdana wouldn't be a good choice, but it seems like you smoothed out the edges a bit. That's good. Perhaps you should also try Arial Rounded, it might also be pretty.

Imho there are several things wrong with the logo - the bubbly one - besides the obvious export error of the bubble on the lower right - light circle overlapping the outline.
The main problem to me is the lack of character - it's a not saying anything or provoking any association. It definetly doesn't say "game dev" to me - neither does the 2nd one btw - which looks more like a "web button" than a logo.
Another problem to me is the distorted font - it looks condensed in width which makes it look amateurish (most visible in the U and the P). I am not sure if it is a font problem or if you actually condensed the font.
I did play with it while having my wake-up-coffee and tried to give the name some character...

I was also going to suggest the 1st logo with darker colours.
I like this one: http://www.subsoap.com/temp/logo/2.png
maybe have a play with some different fonts? the fonts from Daydreams logos might work better? But this logo is nice and clean and not too busy.

I fixed the bubble problem, and I tried adding one more bubble. I tried adding more but... I just couldn't find a layout that I was happy with so I deleted them and left the last one by accident (might remove it later). If anyone wants to give a shot at making a good bubble layout I'd be happy to send them the psd.
ZeHa: I'll admit I was looking at those very logos that probably ignited your disposition when I was trying to find inspiration :D I fixed the font alignment, I think.
DayDream: Thanks for the logos :D you'll have to send me a note about what you want in exchange. You might be right about character... hum... but I'm not sure submarines would fit me very well. I'll have to find some of the old logos I've used in the past to show you all of the different interpretations of our made up name 8)
MrQ: I tried changing the font to one called Delicious (http://www.josbuivenga.demon.nl/delicious.html)
Please look at these two links for comparison
old (http://www.subsoap.com/temp/logo/logo2_darker2_high2.png)
new (http://www.subsoap.com/temp/logo/logo2_darker2_high3_no.png)
Again, thank you all for your feedback :)

The logo looks good. A bar of soap is definately the way to go.
I have to agree with ZeHa that the shiny Web 2.0 style is already starting to grate on my nerves. Whenever that happens I visit sites with a Web circa 1995 feel to calm myself down. What about adding some texture like wax? Maybe mix wax and shine to give the logo more character?
