Hi, kind of new here...

I've been following the forums for the last 3 months and never made myself a member, until now... because... well finally we did it...

After spending 2 years talking about how we want to make games, me and another friend, started actually developing our first game...

Before you say, oh no another misguided soul who thinks this is all beautiful and easy :D ... We have some 4 to 6 years of professional professional programming in several different companies, each, not counting the 5 years spent (in Portugal its 5 years not 3) in a University in computer science...

After a lot of messing around a lot of other free libs and tools (Ogre3d, blender, Gimp... etc) and lots of C++ experience to back us up, we setup a workspace on windows that is completely assembled by free tools and libs that are fully supported by the three major systems (Windows/Mac OS/Linux), one of the things we stressed about was this... make our games available in all these platforms...

Another thing we are in accord is to actually use the Extreme programming and Unit Testing... we work with them in other personal projects and know by experience that they actually work...

Our first game is still under brainstorm... but it will be a beat'em'up with an rpg of sorts... We know its a dead genre.. but personally as two kids from the 70's we have great memories of these games... and want to make at least one of them in our life :P

well I just wanted to say hello to you all... now its back to coding... ill be around a bit for now... so see you around...

You have plenty of work experience and you've clearly spent some time assembling the tools so you have a plan.

I was never exposed to Extreme Programming. I've heard plenty of accolades. Unit testing is critical. My bug count is zero (as far as I can tell) because I always test each new feature.

I look forward to seeing your demo.

I've been away from here for quite some time (something I seem to keep repeating in my posts btw) and many new names have appeared which is good for the old mixing pot, but anyway stay a while... stay forever... muhahahahaaa in true Impossible Mission style :)

I can appreciate that! My current project is for the casual market, to help pay some of the bills, but my next project is also be a beat 'em up that will be done purely for love of the genre - market be damned!

Welcome aboard. Looking forward to see what you come up with.
