Team name: Surrogate Interactive
Project name: Brutal
Brief description:
Brutal is a new breed of multiplayer fighting game that blends elements from popular fighting games like Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibur with those of a typical first person shooter like Half-Life 2 or the Quake series.
Unlike most fighting games that only allow 1 on 1 combat with a shared camera forcing you to attack your opponent on a single 2-dimensional plane, Brutal allows players to experience combat in full 3-dimensional glory with up to 26 players at once. No more shared camera, no more miniscule arenas!
Brutal lets you go where you want to and fight anywhere on the battleground! Fight on rooftops, inside buildings, on the streets or even on mountaintops, there's virtually no limit to where you can roam! And with your own individual 3rd person camera, you have complete and independent control of everything you see.
Target aim:
Proof of concept demo
Compensation:
$800 USD, negotiable if you can get everything coded quickly.
Technology:
C++ and the Source Engine
Talent needed:
Programmer
Team structure:

Previous Work by Team:
Morbid Inclination - A Half-Life modification www.planethalflife.com/morbid/
Additional Info:
We're looking to hire someone who has previous experience programming with the Source engine/Half-Life 2 to finish the programming work for our proof of concept demo for Brutal. http://brutal.surrogateinteractive.com
Our previous programmer is still in contact with us to help with understanding his source code and there are only a short list of tasks to be coded:
Animation Code - $200USD – All code necessary to ensure the proper functionality of character animations. There are 2 characters with 41 animations each. Walk, run, idle, attacks etc.
Object Manipulation - $200USD – Ability to pick up objects and rag dolls with character’s hands (to be synched with pickup and grab animations).
Basically remove the gravity gun model from HL2 and make the character's hands the new attachment point for physics based objects.
Climbing - $200USD – Ability to climb up to higher ledges
Best example of this would be seen in games like Tomb Raider or Rune where the player can walk up to a wall slightly higher than their height, press jump and automatically grab onto the wall, then press spacebar and climb up.
Weapons Code and effects - $200USD – Code for both Juice and Kraylor’s weapons including any visual (motion blur) and affectable (disarming and breaking weapons) Both weapons are melee type, one is a hammer and one is a spear and shield. Should be able to simply use the crowbar code as a base.
Rate of pay is open to discussion for those who have more experience with the Source engine and can ensure us a fast integration of the tasks outlined.
please e-mail torque_mod@surrogateinteractive.com if you are interested.
