Hi there,
I've recently setup a small company to develop, produce and promote a line of casual games (initially on the PC using GameMaker, but eventually with plans to cross develop on a number of platforms) - check out my website at www.whitetreegames.com for more information.
I'm an ex-video game industry professional with over 15 years development experience and countless more sitting on "the other side of the screen".
I'm posting here as I'm looking for one or more quality artists who excel at 2D Pixel work to work on my initial projects.
I would be grateful to hear from any interested parties either via PM or directly to jon@whitetreegames.com. Please include an email address along with samples or links to samples of work and I'll respond directly.
Now for the important stuff...
I am currently working part time on developing these games, and whilst I can provide full support and direction on software there will be NO money up front. Instead what I am offering is a percentage of royalties on a per project basis upto about 20% (or higher depending on the quality and quantity of work required), this will also extend to any other platforms the products eventually end up on.
Please be aware the video games business (especially the casual games sector) can be fickle at best and whilst I'd like to make my fortune selling gazillions of copies I feel it best to be realistic and not get any hopes up too high. That said one thing I can and will PROMISE is that full credit will be given (in a prominent position) in all versions of the product that contain any resources supplied by you.
Regardless of the money issue this opportunity WILL allow the people concerned to gain valuable industry experience as well as being able to build up a portfolio for their own use. I will even supply references on request as testement to the quality and their dedication to the project.
This chance is perfect for anyone looking to make a break in to video games / graphic design although existing professionals will be warmly welcomed.
The first games in production are casual single screen puzzlers, and the one I'm aiming finish first is called PipeDreams. The majority of the work will be drawing a set of rotatable connecting pipes, although guidence on an other visual aspects is appreciated (remember I code for a living not draw )
Any interested applicants will be sent an evaluation copy of the current code for PipeDreams along with template sheets of sprite resources so they can view their work in the finished environment (hopefully allow a quick turnaround).
I have several more titles planned for the future so I am looking to build a long-lasting, productive and mutually benefitial relationship with talented individuals, so please, only serious applicants need apply.
If your interested either PM me or email (address at end) and don't forget to send samples or link to an online portfolio.
Thanks for reading and I hope to hear from you soon.
Jon...
PS. You'll probably note from the website just how poor my artwork is so any help on that side would be most beneficial (to both parties) as well!
Note, I'm looking to release the first beta version to selected sites within the next couple of weeks so time really is of the essence on this one!
