Perhaps someone here can give me some advice as to what might be happening here.

I appear to be blocked from a particular forum (it appears as a page-not-found). It's working for everyone else. Further research indicates that I am, in fact, blocked from all of invisionfree.com. Have been for a couple of days.

For the same amount of time, I haven't been able to connect with my mail server, either. But the rest of the internet, as far as I can tell, works just fine.

I updated AVG and did a scan today; it turned up clean.

Something fishy? Or weird, hopefully temporary problem at my ISP?

Could be lots of things. Maybe your ip is banned for spamming (someone else in your isp say) or your country is blocked etc... Or it may just be a routing problem. Do a tracert to the site and see where it gets stopped.

Could be a DNS problem aswell. If you have a 24/7 connection disconnect once and reconnect... eventually you'll get another DNS server then.

If you have a router and use win2k or xp you can also try disabling the dns service (because the router already cares about that).

The past week, I have been unable to access www.cnn.com from home. I also see I can't access TurboSquid recently either (are they still up?). And my ICQ client has been rather hit-n-miss as well though go.icq.com works perfectly fine. All of these problems are not present from work.

In the end, after turning my modem off and on again several times it sorted it out. Thanks all - never had this problem before.
