Junior Java Programmer
GameTable Online, Inc., www.gametableonline.com, is looking for an enthusiastic game programmer with Java familiarity to program online strategy (card or board) games. Candidates must have some understanding of game-programming or other client-server systems. We are looking for good Java skills, but we will consider solid Object-Oriented or C++ skills. The games are built on a mature client-server strategy game development engine with top-quality functional specs and game art. Our technology is a Java client-server, RMI, Swing, Model-View-Controller approach, with Spring Framework.
GameTable Online is a Florence, Massachusetts based company that hosts online versions of table top games for subscription play. The website and technology have been in development since 2000 and open for subscription play since May 2003. The current library has 18 games available for play to the public with more in development. This is a great opportunity to learn from an experienced team of Java and game designers, developers and marketers.
Position is ¾ to full-time and will start in early-to-mid summer depending on candidate availability. Position is currently 4-6 months but may be extended based on business needs and employee performance.
Successful candidate will program network-based games in Java in close collaboration with one or more senior game programmers using Swing 2D and the Spring Framework in a pattern-based approach. Candidate will also learn to deploy completed games using Apache Ant and Tomcat. Future work could include Hibernate, MySQL and PHP as needed as well as advanced Java technologies and methods.
Starting pay depends on experience and training.
