Hi, this is the design document for the game I'm developing now. Although I've been coding for years, I'm a newbie in writing design docs for games, so I'd really appreciate your thoughts.

I only had the time to have a quick skim through, but it definitely looks like you're on the right track. Nicely presented. For a first ever GDD I'd say you've done a great job so far.

Seems quite excellent to me as well. Far better than any design doc I have produced for a game.

'Course. Actually, last weekend I did that while having a beer with a friend of mine ;)

Generally it's the other way round; notes on a napkin and then GDD, but whatever suits. ;)

The document itself is fine, but you mix "vampire" and "demon" when speaking of the player's avatar.

The vampire has no attacks, that’s why he must avoid touching the monsters.

...

The floor stops the demon to fall down to Hell due to gravity.
...
In each graveyard there are platforms the demon can jump on.

I agree with everyone else. It's a good outline. My only thought is to add a walkthrough of sorts... maybe only for the first level so that everyone in the project can get a feel for the gameplay (I know you've got a gameplay section...)

Thanks again everyone for taking the time to read the doc. The "demon" bug is fixed now (at the beginning, the main character was a demon until I noticed that the enemies had more charisma than him!).

About the walk-trought, I think it's a good idea. Maybe some sort of "1 minute of gameplay" or something like that. Thanks :D
