After I wrap my exe with Armadillo a.k.a Software Passport, my games always crashed !!! even if I set the armadillo protection to its lowest security (but then.. what's the point of using it ??)
Hi guys, have any of you experience this before ??
I tried contacting the technical support and yet the only suggestion I get is that I should lower the security settings.. duh
btw.. before I wrap my exe with armadilo, I also wrap my exe with my own protection scheme that'll compress n exncrypt my resources..

That's one reason why in the end I've decided not to use it... too many "collateral" effects!
I want to make games, not pass my whole existence fighting a hopeless war against piracy ;)

Compressing the exe beforehand is probably what's causing the problem. Armadillo works best with untouched exes.

does anyone know other software protection tools other than armadillo ? the only reason I intended to use it is that many ecommerce service provide them..
I know PC Guard work just fine with my exe but beside that it's more expensive, plimus don't provide its service for it.
What do you guys use ?

I don't recommend PECompact - doesnt work with some ATI drivers. I'm sure that cost us some sales before we figured it out. I am using Armadillo now - seems to work fine, but who knows....

How do ATI video drivers affect your copy protection scheme ... ??

No idea - we had some complaints from people with ATI cards - I assumed it was something we did on the graphics side. Finally, a customer worked with us and we figured out that an uncompressed version of the game worked. Heres the response from PECompact:
I had another report of this recently: It has something to do with the ATI drivers, but I have not finished tracking down the problem yet. I am sorry for the problems and will let you know when this is resolved.
